Very envious of that machinery. I’ve been woodworking for over 45 years but just as a (my wife would add expensive) serious hobby. I’ve got machinery appropriate to my needs but, when I see yours, it’s like machinery porn. Late last year, the Wood Whisperer produced a video reviewing all the 2K hard wax oils. I’d suggest you look it up. The winner was Natura Onecoat. It’s isn’t available yet (but they tell me it will be within weeks) in the UK and Eire. However, they kindly sent me a sample. It is a step above anything else I’ve used. It goes on like butter, penetrates well and cures very quickly. If you are risk averse, don’t read on but I sand up to 400 grit (using experience to judge open and closed grain timbers) and apply with the drip, drip, buff method (rather than the drench method). I’m really happy with the results and I can move it off my bench within an hour. It takes longer to fully cure but that quick cure frees up my bench and stops dust contamination. In the US, it is much cheaper than any other 2 pack and the nice guys at Natura tell me it should be the same over here.

Been dying to see inside your shop! Very nice given me some ideas for mine. My office is the same size and in the eaves and never thought about insulating it and making it customer friendly! I am actually interested in the band saw depending on the motor power? Don’t think I am far from you either.

Very nice setup you have there, it does take me back to my manufacturing days, I do miss those days. I was a traditional cabinet maker but had to move with the times and the company I worked for made very similar fitted furniture as yourself, and funnily enough it was more profitable than the old style reproductions. Great video, keep making them.

Lovely video Derek but in this day and age your behind with not having a nesting cnc to compete with everyone else. You have everything else except the basic which is a nestor to n these days

I not so up on the software stuff so Homage does what we need for now. Also I want to enjoy what I do. I can’t be without a saw. We turn out a nice amount of stuff and have good control what goes out. Don’t want to become a massive factory smashing it out. As long as I’m making money and enjoying what I’m doing that’s all that matters to me. But take on board what you said maybe one day 👍

Really impressive workshop, would love to see more of the Homag CNC in action. Hoping to get one next year as currently using a multi borer. Could you share the plans for the board trolleys please? Good luck for the future plans 👍
