EASTER SALUBONG: Dramatic Cultural form of Filipino Religiosity
In the Tagalog Language salubong refers to the act of meeting, receiving someone arriving. In the context of the Holy week celebration in the Philippines, the Salubong refers to the popular religious celebration reenacting the meeting between Jesus and Mary, his mother. It is a part of Filipino Christian tradition that goes back to the Spanish colonial period and is still alive today.
Since I arrived in the Philippines, I cannot miss joining this biblical-Liturgical-catechetical approach of the resurrection that Filipino popular religiosity celebrates on Easter Sunday at dawn. This popular Easter festivity marks the end of the Easter Triduum celebrations in most Catholic churches in the Philippines.

Ok, i don't go in church. But, i'm a follower of Jesus. Anyway, i truly hope this is pretending to be crucified, i understand that filippino people want to be close to our god, but... I WANNA LIVE FOREVER! I truly don't want to be crucified on Easter's Day! 😔😔 Please, don't tell me me this is real! 😔😔

it depicts mother's love for her son and son's love for his mother. Although not written in the books of the bible, we cannot truly say that Jesus did not see his mother at the time of resurrection. There are many accounts that Jesus did that was not written, but surely if Christ and Mary did 'salubong', Mother Mary would have kept it in her heart, as she had always done. Happy Easter.

@@yukikoishiharao4885 The Death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the fulfilment of God’s Divine plan of Redemption to Mankind, to all who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, that He is Lord and Saviour! Resurrection is all about Jesus Christ and not mary, or the love of mary to Jesus. It’s too dangerous to speculate about the “things that were not written in the Bible” like the traditions of men which are in contradiction with the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Apostles.

What the??? First hindi poganyan ang nangyari when Jesus was resurrected read your bible folks. And angel was a woman and child?? Biblical angels were really terrifying (read book of ezekiel)they were also warriors prepare for spiritual battle(Daniel 10). Our Lord Jesus resurrection is based on historic accounts of disciples and all eyewitnesses it proves to us how why it cant be fake just like apostle Paul said 1corinthians14 and if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless. Not this catholic crap
