It’s possible to get two “last stands” in one game! I didn’t know about it myself until it happened to me. I’m not sure if you can get a third one, but the second one gave you even less health than the first one.

To add to the Donkey Kong section, I think that the fact he is in the crowd before his fight is a reference to Rocky 3. In Rocky 3's intro, Clubber Lang is seen in the audience of all of Rocky's fights after Rocky becomes the World Champion and then while watching him fight, he's determined to fight Rocky in which he does later on in the film. This seems very similar to the Donkey Kong situation in this game and I think that it is a nod to the movie.

I don't think lady is the same as Pauline. Pauline is in Mario Oddysey and looks like a young woman. And yet we're to believe that donkey kong has become old and senile as cranky kong? Their ages don't line up. I think the lady is just her own character and Pauline is another separate character who was kidnapped by modern DK.

The chocolate bar feature was used in the original Punch-Out on the NES as a motivational shoulder pat. If you use it immediately before the first round, your health will be cut in half. During round intermissions or after a victory, Doc will tell you to join Nintendo Club or "The Nintendo Fun Club" today. Another neat detail is that after every 100th win, Doc will say: "Alright son listen up. I'm very proud of you. Just keep it in the ring okay? You don't want to be a bully outside the ring."

Fun Fact:you can do the same health regeneration trick in Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Punch Out feat Mr Dream if you press select when a round is over. Doc Louis will pat Little Mac on the back and when yo go into the next round,you will have more health

Do you know the secret mode called "champions mode"? You get it by beat 10 fighters in Mac's last stand

IIRC, Piston Hondo gets different types of sushi floating around his head, and he actually notices which kind it is. There’s also a reference in-between rounds that Doc Louis makes, where he references Piston Hindi’s original name, Piston Honda.

Dude, Punch-Out is my favorite Wii game of all time, and I NEVER knew about those secret animations at the main menu, at least until now. Great video dude!

Fun tip, if the crowd cheers the moment a hit knocks you out before the on the ropes animation (audio only) mac is able to do his roar, I believe its minus, but for good measures I mash minus, one, and 2, if the crowd doesnt cheer at all, no chance. Theres also a VERY small chance to do it twice in one match. Dont rely on it, its RARE.

This game is great. I remember how excited I got when Little Mac would return from a knock out. This game is awesome.

When your getting knocked out you hit the minus button but it doesn't work if you have already regained health between rounds.

Another neat lil reference is during the Aran Ryan fight, he always gets up at the count of 7 and you also have 7 Stamina This is a reference his heritage (Him being Irish and all) and the superstition that the number 7 is actually a lucky number

I actually realized recently for the thing, where you're about to go down, when Mac puts his foot out and roars? That actually isn't luck based. It depends on if the crowd is cheering or not. Basically, when the animation starts for Little Mac's TKO animation, there's a BRIEF second where you can hear the crowd cheer. If you spam 1 and 2 on the contoller, it guarantees Mac giving it his all one last time since the crowd is supporting him. Now, if there's a way to guarantee the crowd cheering during the TKO animation? That I do not know. But still, I found it kinda cool.

I heard if you look around in the Minor Circuit Arena, you can find posters of the circuit emblem from Super Punch Out!! For SNES

For the 1 and 2 buttons, that's only when using the wiimote alone. If you're using the nunchuck it's also shaking the wiimote, just like the health regen. Also can only happen if the crowd is cheering for you, and I think it's tied to how close you are to the enemy. If you're close to his health you have a strong chance, but if he has full health it probably won't happen.

“We have smash bros” as if meta knight isn’t canonically 8 inches.

Also, in the multiplayer mode, when you have the two fighters, you can also punch your fighter in the face until they fall down. You can also get a tko on giga mac if you land your punches right.

I remember doc saying something like "Hey Mac, if you cant beat Balt Bull at boxing why not try arm wrestling" while fighting Bald Bull on practice mode.

Most people can tell when they can get up from a ko or tko because if you hear closely little mac makes a different sound when he gets hit

I love motion controls so I became the controller

3:47 that also happens in the original, just you get a different amount of health each time, and if you press minus on the first round intermission, you lose health, I found it funny but un useful.

Hey! So the higher class the opponent is, the lower chance it is to get a TKO/KO Recovery. So if you're fighting glass joe, since his skin is made of baguettes and bandaids, you have a pretty high chance of getting the recovery if you smash buttons. But if you're fighting someone like TD Sandman, it's a very low chance to have mac throw himself forward and stay up. Probably just to fall again and not get it.

Btw when he says you "press" the 1&2 minutes you MASH it. And it works

for the anime moment, there is a subtle audio cue letting you know when you can mash 1 and 2

You actually missed one, in the Aren Ryan title defense intermissions when the audience throws things at him there are three noteworthy items, bottles that presumably belonged to Soda Popinski, bananas that may have been thrown by Donkey Kong, and pizza slices that may be from Pizza Pasta, a character that was never seen again since the original arcade game, and was essentially replaced by Aren Ryan in super punch out (snes)
