He's doing it to distract them so they won't be ready for the punch. I once read that if someone is concentrating on talking, they won't be thinking about punching, or defending themselves. And in this case, Keanu made the mistake of moving in on Phil while he was prepared to knock him out. He probably should've made Phil make the first move so he could counter.

And I'd love to have seen more feuds between Jay & that Cal who was using the Vic as a drug den, would have loved to have seen Jay punch him back, and plus would have been great to have seen Phil have fueds with Andy, think there was only one perticular scene, and I also would like to see Jay have more fights in the future tbh he could be a good hard man! :)

EE Scenes 85 Nws, I wish Phil punched willmott Brown's butler and punched willmott Brown himself I wish Ian and Ben did the same when they confronted willmott Brown, Yh Phil and Andy should have had more scenes together the scene where Phil says "I ain't listening to this" and then andy's henchmen block his way I wish he fought both of the henchmen then other guys outside come in and grab Phil not beat him up but overpower him in some way, I wish jay punched Luke if/when he found out about Luke beating up ben I also would have had Ben punch Luke at some point, I wish grant stayed in his 2016 stint and feuded with/fought mick, jack, vincent, gavin and his heavies, I wish they had a scene where willmott Brown hires a few thugs to break into max's house to scare him, they trash his place, max along with Jack hears the racket from inside and fights the thugs off etc.

I like how Sharon didn't tell Keanu to leave when Phil said to call him off I bet she wanted to see if he could take Phil but when he got dropped was like 'oh fuck better save him' yet if Phil got dropped she wouldn't have done anything except tell Phil he deserved it Which he didn't Phil is just angry no one came to him about the attempted kidnap... Sharon said to Keanu don't tell Phil cause he'll probably kill them so telling Phil here that he can't protect dennis is bullshit

They're stretching it with Phil, Keanu and Sharon to be honest. Phil had no real reason to fly off the handle at Keanu who was only trying to protect Dennis. They're really bringing out the pig in him again whereas he's actually a much more complex character than people give him credit for. It's also ridiculous the way he was able to floor Keanu. Phil is an old man with a heart condition, somebody else's liver, he's overweight and not particularly fit. Keanu is a young man, athletically trim, he's not had it easy and has had experience fighting his corner throughout his entire life. In real life this one would be a no contest and not in the way EastEnders wants to portray it.

A hardened veteran no, but a very sick man who has been through the mill, has somebody else's liver and a bad heart yes. I don't think fitness would automatically win a fight against Jim McDonald or Rocky Balboa for example but against someone who very definitely has a foot in the grave yes.

Presumably you'd also be OK with a man unfairly dismissing you for the simple act of trying to help his family. There's a reason Phil has absolutely no friends and not a single person who loves him, not even his own brother really.

Can't ever blame himself can't he nor Grant, but I'm glad Grant finally stood up to his mistakes and left Walford to try and be a better dad to Courtney, Phil will never, someone needs to show Phil who's boss to be honest. Like now these writers are bare taking the piss, why should Keanu Taylor be scared despite having to hear Phil say I"ll kill ya" for the 10th millionth time.
