Eastbound stack train at Lowell, Everett, WA, 9-22-2014

I'm at a new railfanning location today. I'm at Lowell Riverfront Park on the pedestrian overpass. This location is just a mile or so south of Everett's Delta Yard. This is BNSF's Scenic Sub mainline that goes over Stevens Pass to Spokane and points east.
Our train today is an eastbound stack train led by BNSF 4713 (C44-9W).
The loco lashup was eclectic with a mix of EMD and GE units. Two UP units were in the mix, one an old C40-8. I believe that is the first C40-8 I've caught on video.
4713 / UP 9188 / UP 5038 / 7169
C44-9W / C40-8 / SD70M / ES44C4

Nice video, maybe someday you can get a train coming off the Delta Yard Lead Tracks heading East.

I dunno. There really isn't much public access near Delta Yard. Closest you can get on the south end of the yard is up off Railway Ave - don't know how far up that street you can go before it's private property.

couple questions i thought you might know the answer to. When DPU's are put on the middle or rear of the train, are they usually unmanned or can they be at all? i usually see trains with temporary pushers with crews in them for steep grades but i'm thinking journies that are unreasonable for a second crew to be needed. And lastly, whats up with BNSF renting a whole ton of motive power, ive seen an upsurge in foreign power where i railfan at alot and am seeing it alot in videos. (CitiRail, UP etc.)

DPUs are always unmanned. Distributed Power is, by definition, locos in the middle or rear of a train under radio control by the engineer in the lead loco. Locomotives are fitted with a system called Locotrol (think that's the brand most railroads use) that allows the lead loco to communicate with and control the DPU units via a radio signal. If manned locos are attached at the rear of a train for temporary power to get up a steep grade, then here in US those would be called "helpers". As for BNSF leasing power - if business is up and you're short on locos, you gotta rent or lease extra power. I've seen articles that mention that several industries are booming - oil and grain in particular.
