You must have had a beautiful, loving childhood.... I'm a bit jealous. I grew up in NYC,USA but spend a few years on icebreakers in the Coast Guard.... was able to get to the North and South poles. I love watching these oder b/w soundless documentaries on life for the Northern Peoples... just seemed so magical!!! I know life wasn't easy, but there just seemed to be so much love and family and everyone worked hard and were all so smart.

@@williamjanssen3318 Thank you for sharing. Good childhood but harsh. I am born in Greenland but hate to freeze, 😅🤣 I sure am emotional just like them with a big heart no one dare to play around with. LOL Now I live in Scandinavia in love with the garden and roses. NYC huh? Well, some people are born to sail around the poles to get away from the city noise right?!. LOL

Cool......Knute Rassmussen ended his journey from Greenland to Alaska, and visited here at Noorvik. He certainly did not like the preacher, LOL! They came from Kotzebue and returned there to board a ship at journeys end. The three of them, and in peticuular theyoung man that accompanied him (I spaced his name out) stayed in Kotzebue with the fur trader Tom Barryman, who was an uncle to my wifes father, Qaksiinaq 'Joe'. Joe lived with and worked for Berryman as a freighter with a 16 foot sled and 16 dogs on a team in winter and a whale boat with a 5 hrs hit and miss motor in it, in summer, supplying Berrymans trading posts throughout NorthWest Alaska. Joe said the young mans storys were incredible, as the fellow was a couple years older than Joe. Joe told me often that if a guy wanted to, he could walk to Greenland. True, when you consitter that they pushed the Dog sleds rather than ride them.
