East Coast Swing Dance is the most universal style of swing dancing. In this how to swing dance tutorial, Anthony and Rose Lewis of Country Dance X teach you the East Coast Swing Basic Steps and how to dance swing by learning only 3 different swing dance basics ... but turning them into hundreds of east coast swing dance moves.

We've been doing ESW for 10 years...learned online from pompous and pretentious instructors who confuse as much as they inform. Ball cap, plaid, and blue jeans - yeah! Love your clear, concise teaching approach to the basics and the figures. Outtakes are hilarious and shows that you're gool ol' folks who aren't full of themselves. We will subscribe!

Do you have any video clips doing Illusion Turns when dancing the ECS? I'm struggling !!

We don't actually have a specific video for this in ECS, but it's pretty much the same idea.... try starting in a double cross hand hold facing each other, then do the first triple step before starting the illusion turns.
The teacher I went to taught me the wrong timing for the turns! Thanks for correcting their mistake. Who determines which way to turn?

Hi there. We are both wearing dance shoes made by "Very Fine Dance Shoes".
When I prep to tell the woman she should get ready to turn, the woman turns as soon as I begin to raise my hand.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the "spanky spank" step demonstrated on the background video.
