Easiest way to remove a kitchen plinth without damaging it

There may be a time when you need to get behind a kitchen plinth, it could be to clean-up a leak, it could be to fit new flooring. Without the right tools, you could end up damaging the plinth or surrounding kitchen carcasses/doors and wasting a lot of time extracting the plinth from the clips.
In this video I am going to show you what not to use and the various methods which could damage the plinth and surrounding areas.
Then I will demonstrate the easiest, quickest and damage-free method of removing/fitting a kitchen plinth.
To save you the hassle, I've tried various suction cups/dent pullers and returned most of them as they didn't have the suction power to pull the plinth clips from the legs. The best ones I encountered are linked below:
◉EVO 2 Pack Dent Puller 5.6cm: amzn.to/3UTVrXj
◉ Movola Dent-puller 2 Pack: amzn.to/3iItKU3
◉EVO 2 Pack Dent Puller: amzn.to/3v085tH

Thanks this is a great tip👍. My kickboards are textured so a bit of washing up liquid applied to suction cups did the job.

Great idea. I have water damage and need to dry and air the space under my kitchen cupboards. It loos though as if the corners are glued together. The plinths, side and front meet at a right angle. Any tips how to remove those ones? Thanks.

I had the same idea however won't work in my case as I have grained plinth - so no suction! Will give the Allen key idea a go!

A smooth surface will always have better results, but yes the allen key is fine as long as you have a sufficient gap, just add a pair of Pliers to the allen key for extra pulling power if the Plinth doesn't come out.

We were in a pinch and couldn't find suction cups small enough at the hardware store: 3M hooks worked for us

Depends on the quality of the paint, if it's flakey then maybe a problem

It could be a tight-fitted plinth or plinth holder clips perhaps? If there is a gap at the top of the plinth, perhaps try an Allen key to pull from behind while also using the Suction Cups

@@HandymanSavage Ok actually a small Allen key might fit underneath it, but I don't have one that's that narrow... Hmm

@HandymanSavage I've just moved into a flat and seen under mine, dust, rubble, cobwebs, and a woodlice cemetery. I don't understand why the workmen don't sweep it when fitting. It'll get cleaned at some point, it'll go on my never ending to do list. I thought no one ever read my comments 🙃
