When you put those end boards on, space the screws as far away as you can as that is what's holding your perpendicularity. You have yours quite close together maybe 1.3 inches and if you inadvertently damage this unit it is likely to fall out of true perpendicularity. If you instead spaced say 3 in apart it would take roughly twice the force before it to would be damaged. And use 4 screws not 2. I understand my instructions are perhaps overkill for your applications but for a long-lasting tool like this I think it's worth mentioning, especially if you're doing a tutorial

EXCELLENT! I have an old Delta 36-510 benchtop saw I picked up a week ago at a local pawn shop ( all I can afford ) with the original, loose and ugly fence. I can see that your design is an immediate cure for better accurate cuts until I can afford better, but it's good for me RIGHT NOW! I'm happy!

I'm also glad. I recently bought a job site table saw very similar to the one in the video and the fence is a joke. It does work fairly well for cross cuts though. I live in Indonesia and it's difficult finding the components used in a lot of the more complicated builds. I'm not using my table saw that much, mostly for re- sawing because dimensional lumber also isn't a thing here so I buy 30mmx50mm (roughly) stock and clean it up on my table saw. Also using it as a planer because planed lumber also is difficult to find.

I fully agree with your comments on cheap table saws their fences are not great. My fence lifts up and down and from side to side and even when it is secured I notice the fence being off at a slight angle so it will only cut wood at a slight angle and never straight. I'm going to make one based on technique and use clamps to hold it secure. Also today I was looking at hydraulic hinges are I also need to build an extension on both sides of the table to support woods as cheap table saws don't have wide enough sides and easier and better to build it yourself. Thanks

  • @JosephSastreShowsYou

Maybe throw some cam locks on it and re-make your end bars so that they hug the table edges? This way the cam locks would just push against the tabletop and create locking pressure in tandem with the end bars/rails.

Bought this for my friend for his birthday, and he loves it. Father-in-law was a little jealous, even. :) Built solid, but light enough to move around for projects. Easy to use kzread.infoUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe and makes great precision cuts. Doesn't come with a laser mount, but the fence is straight as an arrow and if you measure carefully, it's not a problem. Can handle dimensional lumber with ease, but of course, there's a limit to how thick. Handled a 4x4" post without a problem, but 4x6" we had to flip and cut twice. Only thing we've noticed is make sure to tighten the nut that holds the saw blade when you take it out of the box and maybe check up on it occasionally. For some, this is probably a no-brainer, but we neglected to do this and a few months in, found the motor running but the blade spinning at about half speed or less. Tightened the nut, and problem was solved. Very happy with this purchase. Dewalt makes sturdy stuff.

3:18 You could countersink a few 1⅝" wood or drywall screws, or shoot a couple of 1½" brads into the joint and a dab of filler over the nail head if you want a smooth "no fastener" look. This would hold it together while the glue sets without pulling it out of square.

@@ImgonnaDIY Did you end up upgrading the clamping mechanism?

My table fence just snapped after years of clamping. This is what I had thought about doing. Looks like that's the way it's going to be.

What you need is an extension feed table. You can build one. It just has to be the exact height of your table saw. I made on and even have a video on it. It my work bench / extension feed table. Search on my channel.

Haven’t used hardwood but I feel it can. If it’s normal sizes (dunno if your block is too big). It could probably handle upto a 4x4 hardwood
