If you buy a low end (or Chinese brand) table saw, chances are the fence won't adjust well or won't lock on properly. This video solves that problem by showing you how to make a quick, easy and affordable table saw fence! A perfect fix for a budget table saw!

Thanks! Got table saw $25 with no fence or miter guage. These things are expensive online so this tutorial is Gold! I’m amateur so not expecting professional precision but practicing some cuts for basic box build and sandbox is gooood for now
This is as simple as it's gonna get. Why didn't I think abt this before. Good job mate.

Thanks!
When you put those end boards on, space the screws as far away as you can as that is what's holding your perpendicularity. You have yours quite close together maybe 1.3 inches and if you inadvertently damage this unit it is likely to fall out of true perpendicularity. If you instead spaced say 3 in apart it would take roughly twice the force before it to would be damaged. And use 4 screws not 2. I understand my instructions are perhaps overkill for your applications but for a long-lasting tool like this I think it's worth mentioning, especially if you're doing a tutorial

Hey Kevin, that’s great info and advice! Will definitely keep it in mind. Thank you brother.
I made my own table saw with an entire sheet of plywood and I haven't made a fence but thanks to this guy he made it easy for me
Most simple and do-able DIY fence for my Skil-Saw table saw, GREAT. Thanbks Ruben
Excellent! i bought a used saw and didn't realize the fence was missing and replacement is WAY too expensive. Thank you!
EXCELLENT! I have an old Delta 36-510 benchtop saw I picked up a week ago at a local pawn shop ( all I can afford ) with the original, loose and ugly fence. I can see that your design is an immediate cure for better accurate cuts until I can afford better, but it's good for me RIGHT NOW! I'm happy!
Very nice I have fought my old fence for years and could not see spending the 💰 on an upgrade for a 40 dollar garage sale saw. This is perfect
This is the best table saw fence DIY video I've seen. I have a very inexpensive table saw and I'm going to use this technique. Great video. Thanks!

I was looking for a table fence, most was expensive until I saw your one. This is just brilliant. I made one just like yours and I saved so much money. Thank you so much. Looking forward to your other DIY

I'm also glad. I recently bought a job site table saw very similar to the one in the video and the fence is a joke. It does work fairly well for cross cuts though. I live in Indonesia and it's difficult finding the components used in a lot of the more complicated builds. I'm not using my table saw that much, mostly for re- sawing because dimensional lumber also isn't a thing here so I buy 30mmx50mm (roughly) stock and clean it up on my table saw. Also using it as a planer because planed lumber also is difficult to find.
Thank you! Finally a simple fence I can make. My ryobi sled is awful. Your instructions were clear and straight forward

Very helpful video, I'm going to follow your guide when designing my own fence tomorrow
Excellent video.. i am in same boat, as i have a pretty good saw and a junk fence.. Most fence tutorials on here you need a degree in engineering and 30.00 worth of material, locks, etc...this is simple, and done with everything i have laying around already.
Very helpful Bought a used table saw and needed to see this Thanks!
Just got my new budget table saw! Thanks for the tip
Perfect, just what I needed, as I’ll be making a table saw extension and was concerned on utilizing my existing fence only designed for use with its metal table. Great presentation!

I didn't realize how off my fence was until after my first project didn't fit together. Thank you for an easy alternative
Thank you for a creative and practical solution!
Great idea! My old table saw has no extension wing. I want to make one because it's old and I am cheap, but then the rip fence will not cover the extension. Your idea solves my problem. Thank you.
When you took 90 degrees check and clamp the pieces I knew you are going to get into trouble!! I also experienced it a lot and I've learnt my lesson; I always do not clamp such joints unless the right angle is not critical!!!
super - I was looking for quick, easy, and accurate - I like yr. editing technique - I subbed !!
Very useful - love the simplicity. Thank-you very much. ( P.S. Ignore the few negative comments )

I fully agree with your comments on cheap table saws their fences are not great. My fence lifts up and down and from side to side and even when it is secured I notice the fence being off at a slight angle so it will only cut wood at a slight angle and never straight. I'm going to make one based on technique and use clamps to hold it secure. Also today I was looking at hydraulic hinges are I also need to build an extension on both sides of the table to support woods as cheap table saws don't have wide enough sides and easier and better to build it yourself. Thanks
This is what I'm going to make for my triton saw. Whitch is very simular to this 1. Thanks for the video.
Simple fence. Thanks for the video. I'm using one of the cheap table saw with crappy vertical fence too. Making one vertical fence myself soon. Hope u post more videos upgrading it. 😊

Great video I will be building one of these. Just a suggestion. You could add two wings to the bottom of the sides holding the fence to the table so It also catches the bottom of the table so you don't have to use clamps
Maybe throw some cam locks on it and re-make your end bars so that they hug the table edges? This way the cam locks would just push against the tabletop and create locking pressure in tandem with the end bars/rails.
Great idea, I have been using a locking clamp from Axminster Tools but your system is better. I will make one tomorrow, thanks.

Just stumbled onto this video after looking through maybe 20 fence videos but they were all either over-engineered, not compatible with my cheap saw track or had expensive components. This is absolutel perfection I'll be making it tomorrow. Anything you would change 2 years on?
Excellent solution thanks. By the way, did you cut a hole in your sofer when you put the saw down at 02:09?!! 😅
Good job!
For future design: add another cross bar from side to the other on the end of the board. Otherwise fence has chance to be off by +/- 2mm
I just picked up a table saw at auction but it was missing the fence. Replacement fence was almost as much as buying a new saw lol. Thanks ill be making one

Bought this for my friend for his birthday, and he loves it. Father-in-law was a little jealous, even. :) Built solid, but light enough to move around for projects. Easy to use kzread.infoUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe and makes great precision cuts. Doesn't come with a laser mount, but the fence is straight as an arrow and if you measure carefully, it's not a problem. Can handle dimensional lumber with ease, but of course, there's a limit to how thick. Handled a 4x4" post without a problem, but 4x6" we had to flip and cut twice. Only thing we've noticed is make sure to tighten the nut that holds the saw blade when you take it out of the box and maybe check up on it occasionally. For some, this is probably a no-brainer, but we neglected to do this and a few months in, found the motor running but the blade spinning at about half speed or less. Tightened the nut, and problem was solved. Very happy with this purchase. Dewalt makes sturdy stuff.
Great basic fence

I did the same except I attached it to my fence on the backside of the fence. I can still use it normally but the made fence keeps it in line
Gracias!!!
That's for sharing this video
Well Done.
3:18 You could countersink a few 1⅝" wood or drywall screws, or shoot a couple of 1½" brads into the joint and a dab of filler over the nail head if you want a smooth "no fastener" look. This would hold it together while the glue sets without pulling it out of square.
My saw fence is great. My Bandsaw however doesn't have a fence so thanks for the tutorial.
very good
Great video. You should maybe put a zero tolerance insert on the blade. It would make it very easy to measure how far back your fence needs to be then.

What you need is an extension feed table. You can build one. It just has to be the exact height of your table saw. I made on and even have a video on it. It my work bench / extension feed table. Search on my channel.
