This is a great method! I use it especially in the spring with larger pots that I’m filling with several smaller plants. I put all of the smaller pots in the large one and fill the whole thing with soil. Then pull out each of the planters so I have the right number of holes and pop in the plants. Viola!! Large planter done in no time.

Really love your channel even though I have only 1 cactus. Been watching you for a while and you have very good tips and tricks that could be helpful for my outdoor plants too... and btw I think my place in croatia has more rainfall than Sheffield. Look it up, rijeka is the name of the city, could be that rainfall is more consistent in uk, but my place is having more by amount

Depending on the roots of the plant I'm repotting and the soil, I sometimes try to carve the hole in the new pot with my hands or a small garden tool. But I have to try this.

Thank you! I'm not the only one thinking these people complaining about using a pot too big to repot your plant are nuts. Ive been growing plants for at least 35 years and never get root rot from using too big of a pot😂🤣. I think all those people that think that read the same home and garden magazine from some editor that didn't know what they were talking about and has never even grown a weed. If you water your plant too much too often is how you get root rot. You don't allow the roots to get the oxygen they need, to NOT rot!

Never heard of people advising against big pots before. All mine are big pots from 10Ltrs all the way up to a pot that weighs about 60kg WHEN EMPTY lol. The smaller ones all have water dishes but the water I give hardly ever reaches the bottom and never pools. These are generally small plants to like a Philodendron Lemon Lime.

I have been planning to use this method next time I plant, which my be as soon as Jan, but also may be months later! Depends on my health & IF & how much it improves! I absurdly HATE & DESPISE filling a new pot w/ the plant "in the way"! This doesn't look near as messy! Thanks! You're the 1st to show me each step! So far I'd only seen the making of the pots new hole & the finished product! I figured it was cleaner & easier, but your video shows that it can be both! Thank you! I wish you & your family, a Merry Christmas, & have a Blessed New Year!

Great idea! I don't usually want my houseplants growing more than the size they're already at (lest my room space is taken over completely by plants): So if my plant gets rootbound, I use the method you showed in a previous video of simply cutting the roots in half and repotting it in the same pot again with newly added soil.

I am so sorry this is totally kind of off topic but... I need help! I ordered a 6-in spider plant from an online Depot... They told me when it would arrive, but alas it arrived two days earlier and I didn't know so it sat in my mailbox through a hard freeze. Suffice it to say it looks bad. Hoping for the best, I potted it up with all new potting soil, with plenty of perlite for drainage and it is just limp, all the leaves are see-through and almost mushy. Is there anything I can do? Please and thank you for any ideas. ❤🪴
