FYI there's a lot more detail that this videos leaves out about the 10 "easiest" medical schools... 1. Howard and Meharry are historically black medical schools, which are focused on admitting African-Americans applicants. If you are not AA, then your chances are the same as any other medical school. 2. For PR schools, do not apply there because your education and wallet will be compromised 3. Loma Linda is a religious school and favors applicants from SAD or Christian backgrounds 4. Nova MD is a new medical school and accepts 21/3202 (OOS% = 0.65%) from recent MSAR data which is far less than other schools They don't mention schools Georgetown, George Washington, St. Louis University

1) Historically black medical schools do not indicate who they interview based on race. If you can find this data, please let us know. 2) 41% of NOVA matriculants were from out of state last year and accepted out of state students had an average MCAT of 512 and BCPM GPA of 3.61.

@@MedEdits ​ 1) Yes, you could be right that they do not interview based off of race. I was saying that these medical schools have a mission to place more African-Americans in medicine (which is awesome!), but that students need to be mindful of this when applying. As an AA, your chances at Howard (87/119 = 73% AA mat's) and Meharry (86/114 = 75% AAs mat's) are greater than if you are non-AA Howard (27%), Meharry (25%). I just want students to put in their own research before blindly applying to schools that have high OOS %'s on face value, but have deeper reasons as to why that this is the case. Does this means there are no Latinos/Asians/Whites at these schools? No, we see that they make up 1/4 COLLECTIVELY. Again, do your due dilligence. 2) Nova MD - 21/51 = 41% OOS matriculant rate - 21/3202 = 0.65% OOS matriculant/OOS applicant - BCPM 3.61, MCAT 512 Let's compare that to Saint Louis University - 140/180 = 77% OOS matriculant rate - 140/5924 = 3% OOS matriculant/OOS applicant - BCPM 3.83, MCAT 514 So, Saint Louis University accepts both MORE total OOS applicants (7x Nova), and has a HIGHER OOS% (almost 2x). While St. Louis has slightly higher metrics, I just want students to do their own research with MSAR before looking at your list for face value. There are also other factors like the fact that Nova MD is a new school which could be a pro/con.

Hello, thank you for this, I will definitely use the WARS application when it comes time for me to chose which schools to apply to! I'm torn between only applying to my state school really close to my family or applying broadly. I'll know more when I get my MCAT score, but am currently going into my 3rd gap year, poor planning and uncontrollable circumstances, I decided to do a post-bacc to get me back into academics as I was having a tough time working two jobs and trying to dedicate enough time to my mcat studies while juggling family, friends, and my personal health. I was hoping to apply this year: however, due to covid my test date was canceled twice and decided to wait. I have about 4000 hours of clinical experience with direct patient care, am a URM had a GPA of 3.48 at time of graduation, worked for 4 years with an individual who has cerebral palsy as a caregiver on top of the medical experience with interspersed volunteering and about 1.5 years of peer mentoring for pre-health students. Do you think with a descent MCAT score, shooting for a 510, I would be fairly competitive? Or should I roll the dice and only apply to my state school (did undergrad there) as early admissions to show that I am committed to them? I would love to go to school there but am afraid to fall short and have to submit applications late to other MD schools. Any input would be great, I am currently just trying to get a 4.0 in my post-bacc and get as prepared as possible to fo great on the mcat and apply early next cycle!

The Fee Assistance Program only helps a little...so how would you endure four years of medical school and paying the rent each month? Can you help me out and tell me how it is you are paying the rent portion? That I would really like to know. From parents?

We live in the Bay Area and my son with pretty good stats did not get accepted to one UC medical school.

How many point i need to go a med school?

I am thinking about double majoring in English and Human Biology (currently a hbio major). Can my gpa be slightly lower due to double majoring and not hurt my chance at med school? Or is it always better to seek higher gpa via only one major?

Most osteopathic medical schools do not give the same degree of preference to in state applicants.

I liked the video...not sure about those schools being the easiest to get in to, but the information was great.

I have a 3.52 Cumulative GPA with a good upward trend of 4.0 GPA’s in my last two semesters (15 credits each) of all science classes. My pre med advisor recommended for me to do a special masters program because my GPA is not competitive enough. She said 3.6 and higher is what I would need. Do you think I should take this advice? I’m not sure why I would need a masters program if I have shown a good upward trend during my undergrad.

We would really need to understand your course rigor, MCAT score and state residency. Based on what you wrote above a special masters could be a good option but not a "must" depending on other factors.

@@MedEdits Thank you for responding! My major is biochemistry and so the classes in which I had a upward trend in GPA were in upper level biology/chemistry classes that were 3-4 credits each. I have not taken the MCAT yet, but I’m planning to in either January or March 2021 and I’m aiming for a 515-520. My state residency is Michigan!

Hi there! Hope you're staying healthy and safe. So I am a one-year gap student out of undergrad from a state school with a GPA of 3.58. I'd like to know if this is an okay gpa to go ahead and apply to both MD/DO schools? Also, is working as both a medical scribe and an EMT help my chances?

Your GPA alone is competitive for allopathic and osteopathic medical schools. Your overall competitiveness would depend on your MCAT and other factors related to your candidacy.

Is it more difficult in Canada or similar? People from different countries can apply for these or do they have to be a resident of the country to apply?

A very small percentage of non-US citizens are accepted to some medical schools in the US. You can access those statistics on the MSAR.

Go to UWI. Do Sciences in CSEC and CAPE. Ace them. Go straight to med school (UWI in Jamaica preferably). You'll have your MBBS by 23-24. Then you can study for the USMLE all you want if youd like to practice here. Wish I had done this. (Grew up in Jamaica). You're welcome. UWI will be way more affordable, your government will fund you-and you can STILL practice in the states later if you pass the USMLE and match. Look up videos on the process.

This is a competitive GPA for medical school. However, admission for non-US citizens at US allopathic medical schools is extremely difficult.

What if you live in a state with no medical schools, and you have to apply to out of state medical schools?

In what state do you live? There are state schools that take a larger percentage of out of state students.

Hi I live in DC and there are only private schools here? Is there an exception for DC residents

The advice about safety schools having a median GPA of 0.25 points lower than yours is dumb because that would mean, at best, these schools would have a 3.75 median GPA and looking at the MSAR, only a few schools do.

You have a great GPA!!! The MCAT is not competitive for medical school so we would want to know your goals (MD versus DO, for example) and would likely advise a retake depending on your aspirations and some other factors.

Some school will have a cut-off of 2.5 GPA but keep in mind some school check the last 2 year

Post bacc and get it to a 3.0 at least. do the best you can on the mcat and apply broadly.
