    I was a charter captain in FL for over 20 years and I have caught every big fish that swims in FL waters. There were only 2 knots I ever used. This loop knot, a single uni knot and a uni to uni. I have done seminars up and down the west coast of FL and I always taught the KISS theory. Keep It Simple Stupid. You don’t need to know all these other complex knots, trust me, I have tried them all and those two knots are all you need to know as a fisherman. They will never fail no matter how big the fish.

  • @rawrfishing

    I love the Uni Knot. I choose it over many other knots and I do agree that if one who are not a "Knot Fanatic" like me, knowing just a handful of knots is okay. Note that humans was able to advance in all aspect of life through via learning, discovering/developing and documenting so that they can pass on knowledge and hopefully the next person who learns it might spark a lightbulb and either enhance existing knowledge, or discover/develop new one. So if you just want to learn a few knots to solve all your fishing needs, pick a few for tying to terminal and connecting line would be fine. tight lines bud!

    it's a great simple knot. If you want to turn this knot even stronger, you can hybridize this with either the kreh's loop knot finishing method or even the non-slip loop knot :) I mashed the 3 together for the past year for testing purposes and it's probably by far the strongest loop knot i have used. it works even for thin line. I have intentions of making a tutorial video very soon if you are interested :)

    Gk thru the half hitch once.. now form another half hitch and gently pull the tag end and main line , the upper half hitch will immediately slide over the bottom half hitch.. now you gently push the loop created to the size you want and pull the knot tight.. trjm the tag end... it's the smallest, cleanest , strongest loop knot known to man.. I've been using it for 45 years .. I've heard it called both the Mirrolure knot and the Rapala knot.. but it's definitely the best loop knot ever conceived..

    Thank you for the best loop knot! Your knot is easy to size and does not slip. Using heavy braid for testing, I’ve tried all the loop knots I could find on KZread. Most of them make an uncontrollable loop size larger than I wanted. One had an easy loop size adjustment but practicing with braid no matter how much I tried to tighten it even with pliers and using messy superglue, the knot slipped all the way and eliminated the loop. In fairness, I didn’t try it with mono or fluoro. It might work with those lines. But I will start testing fluoro and mono with your knot first!

  • @rawrfishing

    @rawrfishing

    thanks man! there is a stronger knot, the Kreh's loop knot. it's also a bit more weedless as the tag end points forward. I'll take some time this season to do another video since I have learned a ton from feedback on this video. But in the mean time, if you want to try the Kreh's loop knot, it's very similar to this knot and you can also size the loop very easily. I am in the process of testing a hybrid between this and the Kreh's loop knot and so far it's fantastic! And that's cool you are using this on braided line, but try the kreh's. i feel that the extra wraps around the main line will make it strong so it won't slip!

    You can give it a try with thin line. make a loop large and make it small, and just lightly press on it. you will see that smaller loop is certainly stronger; however, i want to express that the smaller loop is effective for slower falling lures or something that suspend. Most crappie jigs and bait doesn't fall slow enough to actually benefit with a smaller loop. for crappie fishing, a loop knot at any size will certainly give it some more action.

    Maybe the loops are big because the person tying the loop is visually impaired

    I like the quick knot but not all the speculation. Your fishing for 2 lb and less fish

    Not familiar with that name, but sounds like a rope knot name. Some fishing knots and rope knots are the same, but called differently I guess. This knot is very similar to a bowline knot

    No thx. I like long videos. I want to know everything about it as well as to hear experience from the KZread content creator! Many folks who just follow a guide to make a video and don't give any more details, but they slap like so many ads on the video. At that point, I rather read a diagram and article than watch those short videos. No ads! Different folks different strokes!

    that's a the kreh's loop knot. While the kryston loop knot is a variation, I also prefer the Kreh's.

    I can tie a perfection loop as small as I want and it’s way easier than this. Looks like a simple surgeons knot but instead of using it to join two lines together you are just tying the surgeons knot above the bend in the line you made. I’m sorry but half-hitches….oh that’s hilarious 😂😂😂😂
