You can, but I think they take it off because it's hard to eat? You can just cut it off with a knife afterwards if you don't like it.

The core is tougher but its tasty and edible and it has the highest amount of Bromelain Bromelainis an enzyme that breaks down protiens, its like a natural meat tenderizer. people have complained of sore mouth and throat after eating much of the core. there may be additional health benefits because bromelian in pill form is expensive from what i hear, but i speak from experience that if you eat much of the core it will leave your mouth and throat sore for a few days.

There is better hack available for this , just rotate uoor part of its , and remove it and then rub it with ur palms to the surface and then you can pluck it out
