    As a Chinese, here are my suggestions for this video: 1. The Chinese in the video does not conform to Chinese grammar, it is obviously translated by Google Translate. I think this is normal for non-Chinese 2. Taiwan uses traditional Chinese and China uses simplified Chinese, this video would be better if you could change the Taiwan part to traditional Chinese 3. For well-known reasons, if a war between China and Taiwan breaks out, there will be no civil unrest in China against the government, but other countries are still likely to impose sanctions on China. But this video is still a masterpiece! I also don't want to see China's invasion of Taiwan to actually happen…i think this will not happen in a few years:) Translated via Google Translate, sorry if here are any grammatical mistakes

    Good video, but there are two things that need to be addressed: 1). As a Chinese commenter has mentioned, there would not be riots in China. In Hong Kong, most certainly, but realistically, only there. Most Chinese mainlanders would support the invasion. 2). China's first landings would not be on the island of Taiwan itself. They would be on the Kinmen and Matsu Islands, directly off the Chinese coast. The Penghu Islands would be taken swiftly soon after. Once the Taiwanese Strait is secured, then and only then would the Chinese military launch their great assault. The naval invasion itself would have many losses from Taiwan mining the strait and heavily defending the landing zones. China would not land in one location, but in several, in a D-Day fashion. They would create small beachheads at first and then funnel more troops in once the beachheads are secured. They would put the many major Taiwanese urban centers to siege, while they take the flat countryside around it. The main Taiwanese military would be pushed back into the mountains or go underground. Civilian guerilla campaigns in the west would take a toll on the Chinese as they advance on the more heavily defended east. It is at this point where the real game begins as we see how long Taiwan can hold out before US troops arrive.

    Interesting EAS design but I have a lot of reservations for the UN Absentee System part: 1. The number of voting members in the UN Security Council is 15, ten are non-permanent members, and the other five are permanent members (US, UK, France, China, Russia). 2.Those five permanent members have veto powers on all draft resolutions…so unless there is a reform of the UN Security Council, that UN Security Council Resolution in the video will not pass. Ever. China (and by extension, Russia) will not allow it. 3. It may seem a bit technical but there generally should be an abstain option, unless we take into account when UN Security Council Rules of Procedure when delegates cannot vote abstain. 4. Based on what the resolution says (taking it word by word), the UN Security Council cannot tell the UN General Assembly to condemn a State without a vote amongst Member States of the UN General Assembly. I think I know the intended idea, but that there should an operative clause that says “Calls upon…” to rectify it. Other than that, quite interesting EAS video.

    I'm rarely one to post criticism on videos, but I was disappointed by this scenario if I'm being honest. I don't think it's fair to call this an "EAS scenario", as with the video being 80% news reports, it's more like a "What if?" scenario. I would've expected a full scale global conflict to breakout with CDWs, EANs, etc. as a result of battles in various cities both in America and across the world. If I was looking for a "What if?" video I'd be satisfied, but if you're looking for an EAS scenario video with the various kinds of alerts, I'd say you'd probably be disappointed. However, the incredible graphics and TTS make up for these criticisms. I still enjoyed the video!

A bit interesting since the video seems to focus more on a China collapsing into a Second Chinese Civil War, rather than the Invasion of Taiwan itself, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Yeah, I have to agree that internal Chinese resistance doesn’t seem likely. Sure, I can see protests in places like Hong Kong and Xinjiang, but I doubt protests would be as large as the ones in Russia over the Ukraine invasion. I wonder if protests would even be as high as American protests to the Iraq War. I’m no expert, but plenty of Chinese people probably view Taiwan as a renegade province. While they want peaceful reunification, they probably are willing to resort to war if somebody does something stupid like America setting up a base in Taiwan or Taiwan declares full independence, which I see as the only reasons China will go to war. Granted, they would have an existential crisis such as a lack of faith in the CCP, but even I’m doubtful they’ll go so far as a costly and bloody war to boost their public support, especially one that can spiral out of control and has a high probability of losing. Though even with small protests, I can see things becoming more authoritarian in China. What about Japan though? Given recent statements, Japan definitely seems willing to assist the war effort in anyway possible. I imagine them letting American forces rest and resupply in Japan, using the nation as a forward operating base. The question then comes to how China responds. If they decide not to attack the American bases to avoid hurting their reputation, they have to deal with constant American attacks, but Japan would still only be allowing Americans to operate in their territory. If the Chinese did attack the bases by the air, then I can see Japan getting directly involved. Most of its forces would be concentrated on the coast and the Ryukyu Islands while their ships provide logistical support. When it comes to combat, I can see the JSDF fighting Chinese forces trying to attack American bases and probably providing armed escorts to international fleets sending supplies and evacuating people from Taiwan. Still despite the nationalist rhetoric and giant conservative portion in the government, I imagine Japan won’t be directly involved in offenses against Chinese forces. Japanese citizens will want to help Taiwan, but probably in a limited way like defending American military assets and convoy escorts. The average mindset of a Japanese citizen, even when supporting the increase in Japan’s defense budget, is still one of having a shield. A very deadly shield to be sure, but nothing like foreign deployments in anyway besides humanitarian missions. So I see Japan getting involved in a limited way, but it would still be the only nation besides Taiwan, the US, and China that would be directly involved in the war.

  • @TGreerTGreer

    @TGreerTGreer

    A major thing to note about Japan is that under Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution, even in the broadest of terms, Japan doesn't allow itself to retain offensive capabilities. This means Japan can only defend itself but not actively attack other nations. A change in legislation in the mid-2010s led to Japan being able to assist in defending ally nations that are being attacked, also known as "collective self-defence", but even this legislation was met with protests and backlash from the Japanese population. So I find it difficult to imagine that Japan would be willing to come to Taiwan's aid like the US would. Needless to say, the US will most likely use their bases in Okinawa if a war were to break out, but whether that means Japan's Self-Defense Forces will actively participate in defending the Taiwan Strait is another issue altogether.

    I can see nations like Singapore (which has a very large military due to mandatory conscription of all men 18-40 and in a situation like this if some fully trained 45 year old former soldiers volunteered to jump in this the Singaporean government wouldn't turn the help down), Thailand and Malaysia being involved as they learned during WWII that if a country like Taiwan gets conquered it could happen to them next. Singapore's military is extremely well equipped, extremely capable (probably more so than even the US) and extremely well funded (again, probably more than the US), if they get involved China is toast. Singapore can be involved in a couple of weeks as they can recall millions of troops in days and are closer to the action where as the US would have to conscript, train and only then deploy soldiers to Taiwan, taking at minimum 195 days and more realistically 240-260 days. I think we in the US would choose to nuke Beijing and ShenZhen before asking Singapore to get in this, though. If the nukings didn't work, I can see Singapore cleaning this up before we in the US can even get troops there.

    I would say this is really good, surprised that it ends just few days after my birthday!:) [Although I don't want war existed tho] Suggestions: - Most if not all Chinese stations, no matter if it's PRC or Hong Kong or Taiwan, have logo placed. CCTV logo placed on upper the left side, most local stations placed on upper right side. You could add logo to make it more realistic.

    How appropriate that I just watched a movie where an EAS alert in Taiwan would have been VITALLY necessary (said movie is called The Sadness, for anyone interested, highly recommend it if you have the stomach for some VERY graphic violence), and now this. Once again, you knocked it out of the park.
