Oh how I truly miss the 90s. Back when you didn't take life too seriously, back when common sense and intellectualism was valued, back when it was great the live as a kid, back when Young people have the decision to play video games or play outside, Life was so much better without the social media.

The 90s was a time where companies were trying to make the next sonic or mario. Earthworm Jim successfully did that.

@@errantbard937 And its maybe a bit of an overstatement, but I always felt EWJ was inherently much more creative than Sonic and Mario, and would at times do things like satirize real life (like how the ISO 9000 level is an exaggerated vision of our bureaucratic, office-space lives)

Agreed with Jason because I feel he tried this when he was 8 thru 11 and this was a step ahead in difficulty from most video games at that time. If I remember 2nd or 3rd level had me on lock down as a kid.

This game looks so good it could almost pass for a 32 bit game. It looks better than most Atari Jaguar games and that system was supposed to be "64 bit".

The Jaguar would've been a great platform to see EJ converted to. In the hands of ShinY, the colour palette (superior even to 3DO) and 2D power, would've made for an awesome looking game. EJ with the palette of the best thing to come out of the Jaguar. Rayman

One of the best games of all time

I remember being stuck for months on "down the tubes" and the glorious day when I finally completed that level.

gotta say the genesis version is the best version of the games. best animation, best midi, best fps

Yet seems to be missing the In the Dark section, where you run through dark rooms, and meet up with a humongous pair of eyes. Not to mention for some reason the Peter Puppy levels are missing a layer of parallax in the sky part, the moon doesn't seem to move in the background at all. Yeah, having an extra level helps, but this version is still missing things found on other versions of the game (like that dark section, and some background layers, which could've easily been done on the Genesis).

This has made my day! So many flashbacks!! I can't believe he uses his own worm body as a whip lol

Thanks for posting! Was born in the 80's so I've seen some shit games but this game was really innovative at the time in the 90's. I think about this game every few years or so for being so badass.

Ah the 1990’s when Earth Worm Jim was an Epic game that made you get carpal tunnel because if you lost enough times you’d have to start the whole game all over again. When I beat this game I felt like the game God handed me a trophy 🏆👊🏾😎💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Odly, the submarine stuff was what I remembered out of this game...not much else!

It's so damn hard. Had to use many save states.

The SNES version. Graphics look comparable on the Genesis, and good music style too, but the SNES shows superior capability here, for example the fiddle instrument sound in the Andy Asteroids music.

I remember me and my brother getting this on Super Nintendo along with Battle Cars for Christmas I never got past the hell stage but my brother got to the second part of tube stage but usually died when one of those roided up cats killed him.

Super hard game, don't think i've ever finished it on my SNES

When I first got this game I played it on a Saturday from 10am to 6pm and barely moved from the couch till I got to the end. :D I don't know what happens to Peter Puppy here. He disappears before his house comes up. Also, the hook is supposed to snag him by the collar & carry him a bit, and he's not there so the hook doesn't do anything. There is an alternate thing you could do, you could make Peter go past his house & keep him going for a little longer on an even harder route...but I forget where he gets off if you do that. I don't think he just disappeared like that, though. Also, why does EJ keep disappearing completely while he's firing sometimes?! It seems like a strange glitch.

I have retried this game a couple of times. This last map buttville where all those thorns are present are so damn hard. I have not gotten past it yet. I spent 22 lives without getting to the bottom last time. Now i have 32 lives to get down, lol.

In For Pete's Sake you don't need to shoot straight, just shoot diagonally up, I think the same goes for the Special Edition of EWJ for Mega Drive too.

No mater what you say, this game was is out of his league at that time.

I had the Super Nintendo version but Genesis is better they made a few upgrades to the gameplay such as a extra level, more dialog from Jim, and a more crisp design.

theres 8 levels but counting the 7 andy asteroids the 2 down the tubes and the 3 snot a problems theres actually 18 levels thats my problem with earthworm Jim they repeat levels just to extend play time
