This was just an example problem. Hence, in order to simplify the manual calculations only floor loads were considered. In real life cases all the loads from beams, stairs, etc. will be considered. Great question btw.

All the info he is giving are by SK Jain from (Explanatory Examples on Indian Seismic Code IS ... - IIT Kanpur.) But the way he is explaining is good , so that we can understand more easily.

Plz make a video on dynamic analysis of earthquake load by both methods.

hi, in general, when you apply a lateral seismic load should you also consider vertical acceleration within the same load case (i.e increasing the W of the structure)?
