Just had a 4.2 off the coast of Northern California looks to be on or near the cascadia subduction zone not a good start to the weekend

If Cascadia cut loose and triggered simultaneous mega-quakes all along the rim of fire, the resulting giga-tsunamis unleashed around the Pacific could result in a giant planetary-sized bathtub effect, with peak wave-heights of colossal size, almost beyond comprehension... imagine cruising comfortably along at 41,000 ft. when suddenly, out of nowhere, the serene image of clouds below and the distant curvature of the Earth is replaced with the top of a humungous wave, with a net aggregate combined closing speed of Mach 1.2!!! 🌊✈️💨

Bet those celebrities thought they were moving right in.

The cascadia is nothing to worry about it's supposed to rupture again in about 100-200 years

@@HypedHabit it last went in 1700, and has a periodicity of around 250-300 years. That means it is already overdue.

@@HypedHabit It ruptures on average every 300-500 years. It has been 324 years since the last rupture. We are within the window.

The subduction of the Juan de Fuca plate is 3-4 centimeters per year. The last major quake was a 9.0 in 1700(AD/CE). It is estimated that the Juan de Fuca plate moved 20 meters (66 feet)to the west. 620 miles of fault ruptured in that quake. The outer coast was lowered 6-8 feet and moved west. Trees died from permanent salt water inundation that allows us to date the event thru tree rings and First Nations/Native American oral tradition.
