Cool to see these old pictures. Really sad what outsourcing did to this country especially Bridgeport. It was the number one manufacturing city in the word at one time.

Unfortunately it seems a large percentage of people think the games were “fixed”, which they were not. Maybe a few bad apples over the years, but you have that in every profession. It’s actually an amazing sport. Check out KZread, look for some of the more recent clips. You’ll see competition from Spain and France. World’s fastest ball game!

@David Chatterton not so much back then. The 70s it started to get worse and by the 80s pretty bad. During the Crack epidemic Bridgeport Ct was named the murder capitol of the US. based on population of course.

I remember a lot of that. Maraczis burned n was rebuilt and eventually became Maraczis Dutchess. Then just Dutchess. Bridgeport was a manufacturing n industrial powerhouse, great paying jobs, neighborhoods were ethnic but safe. Jai-Alai sorta marked the timeperiod of decline. Gambling on fixed games, bigger mob presence, prostitution and drugs, it's sad how such a great city has turned into a welfare state. Seaside park, Pleasure Beach, Brairwoods, Tomlinsons, better known as the Greeks, the original not the bigger one. Damn good memories
