Honestly this tiny detail makes me not want to get the game, plus the 4 different price packages is a big red flag. The fact that they didn't have a faction change function and have yet to implement it especially in an early access where it's like beta testing, feels like the devs are kinda similar to BSG and don't really care too much, especially with something that should be very easy to implement. To me it seems like a symptom of bigger problems with the game/dev team that is only going to get worse later with bigger issues than just changing factions.

I beleive that the grayzone devs are a lot more responsive and proactive than when compared to the tarkov devs and i beleive that if enough people ask for a feature where you can change factions they will implement it. But it also makes sense that you cant change factiosn when coming at a realism point of view. Maybe theyll add a quest to like betray your faction and join another one that might be an interesting way to change factions

Algorithmic agitation for you wing

I use to be a coder, (recently switched to IT), and I can tell the developers of GreyZone are professionals who know what they're doing in the coding and project management side of things. I can see this game is very legit and not a scammer cash grab. All that being said, I think I'm in the minority when I say, I think this is a very BAD idea by grey zone to release tomorrow all because they're trying to to capitalize off the drama that went down in Tarkov. This is 2 weeks after the closed Alpha test they had and it looked like the servers were on fire then, and there were a lot of gameplay design questions that I personally think should be adjusted for players to have more fun. I think the developers should have stayed patient, stick to their guns, and let the game cook for another 6 months of development, instead of releasing tomorrow because of the Tarkov drama. I feel like the devs are thinking to themselves that the play test in the closed Alpha was an older repository of their game file, and they can put in crunch time on their current model of their game file, and make the adjustments needed to have the game at least playable. We have seen other studios do the same thing and it turned out to be a disaster. The game gets bad publicity on release, gets 1 week of attention, and then it dies out. If they let the game cook for another 6 months, make some tweaks for more pvp, optimize the networking, give factions different uniforms, and then release the early access with some really good trailers to generate hype, then they would have a higher chance for success. I think grey zone devs are good and genuinely trying to make a good game, but I think they're making a mistake with the decision to release tomorrow.

I see your point of view, but Madfinger might be at a point where they've done everything needed internally and now want the game to be out in the wild to see if there vision should stay on the original trajectory or maybe they need to shift course a bit (example LZ's). I'm willing to get the standard edition because of what I've seen so far, the unique vision they have for extraction game, and how they've delivered the message from various YT vids and interviews by the lead designer. Regardless, let's see how this early access and hope the potential is realized with the help of the community.

I think they said they were planning to do it tomorrow anyway, however, timing is.. suspect for sure. Not a coder but have been around long enough to know what something that is rushed looks like. I can initially for the first 1-2 days forgive server issues, small studio and the demand is likely gonna be somewhat big for them to handle. That's fine. What matters to me is that they make an active effort with good communication. Its clearly not an asset flip and honestly for an alpha the guns/animations/physics already look really solid based on the footage. Most important aspect for me is that they actively make an effort to move things forward, even if things dont pan out sometimes, making an effort and good communication in these kind of projects does a shit ton. Game funding is nuts for studios like these man, either you take an investor and lose most of your creative liberty or you basically use early access to have a highly volatile playerbase that also does QA for you. Shit like this must be scary.

@@dunaldiX Agree 100% on the communication, and they seem to be willing to communicate and want feedback to help shape the game. What really impressed me is in regards to the very first playtest (which was closed for a few streamers), one streamer could not get the game working on his AMD build and Madfinger put a pc together internally with similar specs to find the solution and get the streamer able to play in the close test...that speaks volume for me. Hope the synergy between the community and dev stays as positive as possible to fulfill the potential that Gray Zone seems to have.

@@fredwin Eh the Mod Support was BS I felt like.. they said "after release" which is so far away it feels like that was deliberate just to appease the masses. Shouldn't trust anything they say anymore. And only EOD and Unheard will get Singleplayer. Still over a 100 bucks to play it.

I'll be there to watch as they open the floodgates and rooting for you to defeat the greatest enemy of every online game launch, THE QUEUE. Can't wait to see what it's like at launch and then decide if I wanna buy it yet :)

They need to have looting in it. That plays a big part of extraction shooters. Finding that valuable item you need for a mission or something a lot those lines. Then the anxiety you get trying to get it out.

It will. The game is still in a very early state. Pre Alpha last time I checked, dunno if they are upgrading to alpha or what, but there are A LOT of things still to come.

Locking the faction and restricting from playing with your friends if choosing the wrong one up to 6 months sounds INSANE. They need to add any kind of solution to this ASAP, even a brute force option like just wiping your current progress and allowing to select the faction again would work.

It could go either way, I think it has a chance to do great. With the product they’re selling, and the recent blunder from EFT even with a probably rough launch they’ll be okay. There’s a huge niche community that got displaced, free to pick up right now. If they make the launch memorable and can continue a good quality and volume of updates they’ll definitely keep them.

So I haven't seen anywhere if we need keys to play or if we buy any version and we have access? What's the point of beta keys if you can just buy and play the game day 1. Wild that when day 1 stuff releases we have to worry about if we are even allowed to play.

Im still enjoying tarkov. If tarkov dies i will come play. But been having awesome PVP on streets every raid as of late

If you haven't played the game it'd say no unless your absolutely bought in with the devs. If you just wana try it out, maybe get your 50-60 hours out of it each time they update it, then just roll with the $35

It's pretty well spread out. Only 16 of each are allowed on each server so it's not like you'll end up 45v3 anywhere

Yes. Confirmed today. There might be smaller details, but we saw a bigger container in the 7 day trial. Gingy managed to get a 2x3 via quests.

Faction change should be allowed at all time, the caveat should be that all your progression are being reset when doing so.

It’s out, it doesn’t appear ready, and it’s bombing. Sad, but somewhat expected. They had to launch given all the drama with Tarkov, but I don’t think they planned on dropping this so soon. They also are being pretty sketch with pricing, as the higher editions are “upgrades” and non-refundable. Low optimization, lots of issues with performance, and the usual early access game design issues. For example, locking into a faction at the start can basically lock you out of playing with friends unless you all choose the same faction from the rip. I’d hold off on this one, at least for now.

I''m pretty sure they are going to release the early acces because of whats going on with tarkov. It's a very clever move. And BSG must be sweating right now. Probably all Tarkov streamers will be playing this for some time to make KZread content.
