Fun trivia: If either Mark Ruffalo or Willem Dafoe get nominated, they will tie the record for most Supporting Actor nominations ever. The record is currently 4 nominations, shared by: Walter Brennan, Claude Rains, Arthur Kennedy, Jack Nicholson, Jeff Bridges, Robert Duvall, and Al Pacino.

Color Purple is definitely ladies night. Dont see Coleman getting anything. Danielle is for sure getting one of the 5 slots FOR SURE. Fantasia I feel will get GG nom just hoping she can get in there for Best Actress Oscar too. Feel like she may be fighting back and forth entire award season for that final spot like Viola did this year. Taraji's singing voice and performance quality is going to be the big surprise for her and the role is meatier than the 1984 film version. Think it just depends on the competition this year if they allow both Danielle and Taraji to come along for Best Supporting. It's going to be a fun campaign watch. Danielle has a very good shot to actually win honestly.

Am I the only one who starting to feel like we are all over estimating Barbie as an awards player? IDK after the 2nd trailer I'm getting the since that Greta made this movie for fun and will just be a fun but not an awards player, this feels like something film twitter want to happen rather then will happen. I also think the fact it's a toy based movie will make it a hard sell for academy voters

hm i dont agree. hey, if im wrong I'm wrong, but i think it'll have a bunch of research done for it and it'll have like a lot of layers and deep meanings and symbolism and shit. i don't think greta gerwig makes ¨just for fun¨ movies................. idk this is just what i think. i think it'll get a screenplay nomination. as well as production design, costumes, and makeup and hair. I am kind of skeptical of it winning acting though, idk, a toy movie???? i could see it flopping BUT i could also totally see it getting like 10 oscar nominations and multiple wins.

Greta is a very "Let's talk about uncomfortable sh*t" director, and I can see her doing some very adult themes in the movie. That I might be wrong, and she decided to do a wacky movie to unpressure herself before developing a different, more powerful movie with a deeper plot and theme, but Greta's style is the adult side of the spectrum.

@@Ella-gb7no yes I get it's going to be criticism of myongomy. However just becuse it explores adult subject dose not mean it's instantly an Oscar contender, though. I just feel like we are over estimating HOW well it it will do. I could see the acmdey dismissing this film as a Toy movie. Also the Beach off joke in the trailer is making me considerd about the jokes in this film. As it wasn't funny and went on for to long

'...a post Jamie Lee Curtis world... ' Affleck has an Oscar- so there would be no need for a career Oscar. Jamie Lee's win was more than career- if not for her cheerleading the film for 5 months- November- March, EEAAO may not have stayed in the conversation- SHE was the one pushing that film, kept it in the running- it was fading at the beginning of the fall 2022. Some of her win may have been for that, career and she was damn good- people knew her and this part was a major departure- like NOTHING she had done before. It just ticks me off at how undeserving everyone thinks she was.

THE COLOR PURPLE is a top 5 Oscar contender right now. Having him so low because RUSTIN for Best Actor is his bigger role is illogical cause if RUSTIN wasn't here this year, I put money on the fact that you'd have him way way higher. Double nominations have happened before. And the Best Picture nomination is always important for the chances of predicting someone's nomination in acting. RUSTIN probably won't even get BP so make that make sense when you have him at the bottom of a category where he is the sole major male performer in a film that's vying for Best Picture and is a shoe-in for SAG ensemble. Be serious twins.
