Earl Spencer seems like a really nice man. I know there have been stories that don't support that thought. However, whenever he speaks, he presents as an interesting, decent and kind human being.

@@myrasmyth890 Indeed both Diana and her brother. Earl Spencer were damaged from growing up in a most dysfunctional home. Earl Spencer had added complication during his schooling.

I like Earl Spencer, he is so natural, and I love the way he protects Princess Diana, she was a lovely Lady, and sadly missed.

I was honoured to meet Charles at Althrop.He was warm,inviting and genuine greeting everyone who came on the trip

I admire and respect Earl Spencer and think he is a really good man. He is very knowledgable and has a great sense of humour. If you haven't already listened to the podcast, The Rabbit Hole Detectives with Charles, Richard Coles and Cat Jarman, I thoroughly recommend it.

He and Diana share a lot of mannerisms. Seems like a lovely man.

He is such a well formed gentelman. Its so nice to listen to him. We loved the stories , he is telling. And, we respect so much his ancestors stories from the very aristrocrats families from England , part of the History of the world. I remember his father said he was very honoured Princess Diana was going to serve their Queen, when she married prince Charles, long ago. Earl Spencer, Besides, and with all respect, he remains us our beloved Lady Diana, because of some body language. 😥 . We wish the best for him and his family.

Each time I see Earl Spencer, I find him endearingly honest and extremely vulnerable and that’s from someone that wasn’t a fan, life it seems has weathered him well and given him the human touch something his sister Diana had in bucket fulls

It was Diana wo actually forced the Divorce by appearing on Television and it was Diana who insisted on leaving the Ritz on that fateful night . It is extremely sad that 3 people died that night .

Gosh, George really IS, his great yncles look alike.... I saw a comment about this subject and yes, i see what others see.... Charlotte is her daddy's girl, Louis is his only mummas boy 1 out of 3 ....

Spencer is living his life as Harry SHOULD have. Yes, he is rich and has that estate where Diana is buried, but he pursues something that has dignity.

No one hates these people you have to know someone very c lose for that, I don't hate my family though we've done me wrong, I let them see my kids it's important to them.

Of course Charles Spencer had such a marvelous marriage with Victoria - it seems that virtually everything Diana accused Windsor of supposedly doing during her marriage her brother did to his young wife. Sitting in the bath, just after Victoria came home from hospital telling her he had 12 'relationships' while she was away from home. And she wasn't to consider going to Diana's funeral - he had already promised to take his latest squeeze - which went down really well at St Paul's. Imagine being told what a terrible husband/family you are when he made such a mess of his own life - then having to accompany Diana on her last journey with Charles Spencer & his 'squeeze'. Emigrating to South Africa to avoid the British press was a really good idea until he found out that in SA divorces are not heard in a closed court - it wasn't just the hated British press who reported as to what an appalling husband he was

Diana had 11 Lovers, and broke up Marriages, anyone else remember Will Carling ? Diana bombarded his poor Wife with phone calls.

I cannot forget Charles Spencer DENIED Princess Diana returning to Althorp to live there after the divorce. SHE was VERY VULNERABLE and NEEDED HELP. Quietly resting, sleeping to get a grip on what happened (especially after surrendering her sons to half-custody). Just being with her family for the time she needed, she would have benefitted from that get-away from her sad surroundings and it might have helped her get better, improved and cleared her mind. But No. Charles did NOT think of his sister’s welfare. Was that love? Or arrogance?

This has been noted by genuine royal reporters and friends and Charles'own admission of denying the property to her. As far as "losing custody" of kids, only to a certain extent as they were of immediate royal lineage - that's all.

That's not fair to judge him for a decision he made (if thats what actually happened) he would do it differently if he'd had a crystal ball.

For me it's exciting to know that there are people (like myself) who are fascinated with ancient and medieval history as well as modern history. It would be a shame if ancient and medieval history got religated to the dust bin as being irrelevant in a world that is enamored with technology to the exclusion of all else. Thank you for this interview with Earl Spencer. I knew he had some interest in history, but I thought it only focused on that which pertained to his family. Now, I know that he is deeply interested and an author, also. I'll have to look into this book and any of his other writings. Thank you again for the good news. 😊

A huge “fan” of Charles Earl of Spencer. I hope I got that correct. A very private school is ten times the read. Read them both and others he has written. Do not wait for this recent book to come out in paperback. The upper class boarding schools in the uk have nothing on the residential schools that the First Nations were sent to here in North America. Though TB and food scarcity brought other challenges. I’m shocked to find out, children that came from such wealthy families got away with this. With my own experience of how children were treated during that time, I have no reason to disbelieve the great Earl of Spencer. I’m glad he exposed this. It needed to be done. He needed some other collaborators so Maidwell could not contest this. Buy the book!

The Spencers have always tried to be supportive of Diana’s sons, even though William did not return their efforts to reach out. Harry did and he is very close to them. I don’t blame him for not talking to much about Lillibet, mainly because he was there for something else and the host tried to sneak that in. Both of his sisters flew to California for Lillibet’s christening. They support in their own quiet way, not looking for fanfare.

I REALLY enjoy Lorraine's show. However, I have to mention that she is VERY hard to understand. I generally love accents, but one should not have to strain to listen. Please don't shoot the messenger!!!! Charles wasn't a very nice brother to Diana. She wanted to come visit her old home, Althorp, that Charles Spencer has inherited in August 1997. He said "No." He did not want to deal with the paparazzi that she would bring. Diana, Princess of Wales, had no plans, so she accepted an invitation from Dock Al-Fayed to cruise and then go on to Paris. Well, we all know the rest is history. I cannot imagine the guilt that Charles Spencer could have felt. Hence the incredible eulogy at her funeral. (Absolutely stunning speech... Can still bring tears to my eyes.) Interesting that he writes of an accident that changed Royal history. He was certainly party to one of the most famous.
