Michael Ripps achieved great success in Hollywood, editing many feature films including STREETS OF FIRE, GHOST STORY, WAR GAMES and Martin Scorsese's NEW YORK, NEW YORK. On staff at The Eames Office in the early nineteen-seventies, he worked on a re-edit of CLOWNFACE, and edited THE WORLD OF FRANKLIN & JEFFERSON, SOMETHING ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY, THE LOOK OF AMERICA, SX 70 SONAR ONE STEP and the three Eames Office/Ray Redheffer films about mathematics: ALPHA, EXPONENTS and TWO LAWS OF ALGEBRA.

I knew Michael Ripps in Junior High and High School. I am happy to see that he achieved great success. I met him at Emerson Jr High when he had just arrived from back east. He was already very good at drawing cartoon characters. He once helped me to understand one problem in Algebra after one class while we were walking to the next class.
