E85 Lancer Ralliart Update

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's an update on my 2009 Lancer Ralliart Build! It made 285whp/310wtq at 28.5psi on E85 Ethanol. Maxed out the stock turbo! On a dynojet I would be making 315whp/350wtq approx. My SST clutch packs are now slipping so my trans will be sent out on the 3rd of March for a complete build with 500whp Clutch Packs. You can hear and see my clutches slipping under WOT. I usually do not do WOT pulls on my car while my trans is compromised but I made an exception for this video.
For those who do not know: The Lancer Ralliart has All-Wheel Drive and the turbocharged 4B11 seen in the Evo X, the suspension is radically different as is the brakes. It makes 237Crank Horsepower and 253 lbft/torque stock.
Mods are as follows:
Engine/Drivetrain:
FIC 900CC Injectors
Walboro 255 Fuel Pump
UR Short Ram Intake
ETS 3'' Front Mount Intercooler
AMS Upper Intercooler Pipe
AMS Lower Intercooler Pipe
FFtec Boost Control Solenoid
Evo X NGK Spark Plugs
FFtec E85 Ethanol Tune
STOCK TURBO:
March 2014- MAP Performance EF3 Turbo Upgrade
Exhaust:
Cobb 3'' SS Downpipe
Cobb 3'' High Flow CAT
AMS Twin Tip Exhaust
Cooling:
Mishimoto Radiator (Not installed in Video)
Agency Power Radiator Hoses
Suspension:
BC Racing Coilovers
Brakes:
AMS SS Brake Lines
Project MU Pads
Stoptech Cryo Slotted Rotors
Transmission
For this video: Stock SST, slipping clutches
March 3, 2014: Full trans build from JACKS TRANS- 500hp Clutch Packs
MISC:
AEM Wideband AFR Gauge
AEM Boost Gauge
TRF Full Aluminum Skidplate
Evo X Seibon CF Rear Wing
E85 Flex Fuel Emblem

    Hi everyone... Recently my Ralliart project was tuned at 390whp/360wtq on Mustang dyno (440/410 dynojet)... On my way back from the tune the car caught on fire from a possible fuel leak (no blown motor).... The project was totaled out and I received money for most of my modifications back... I moved on to a 2005 Evo VIII MR and it is currently making 430+awhp. I was sorry to see this one go, but it goes to show you that dumping so much money into a car is a huge risk.

    You're welcome Jon Hurley.... I'm excited to see how you transform the Evo... I did watch one of your last videos and never looked at it like that till you pointed it out... Evo IX and previous gens are track cars and the X is more of a fast street car that tracks very well... The RA cannot compare which is true and it's about time Mitsubishi bridged that gap... Now since they're leaving us hanging I wonder what's next...

    Hey Jon, that's a really nice setup. I have 2 questions... Does the Evo X spoiler bolt into the same holes as the factory Ralliart spoiler? I don't want to get into a situation where I have my trunk all chewing up if it doesn't. And I really like the BBS Rims and was thinking about getting them as well, but I was a bit hesistant because of the size differences between the two types. Does it drive the same with the BBS Rims on? Btw, those Ralliart decals are a real nice addition. Brad

    Hey Jon. Nice setup you have so far. Have you considered doing the CBRD upgrade to the stock turbo? I use my car for a daily driver and considering to go that route over a full EVO X conversion. You mention your clutches are slipping... Is this due to the extra power you are making or have you been launching too hard and too often? My car is about to hit the 25k mark and my SST is still running great. I have yet to do the SST fluid flush and filter change. Manual says this needs to be done at 60K but Ralliart owners say earlier. Only mods I currently have is K&N drop in air filter, boost pill, and GST tune loaded. Once I save up some extra cash I plan on doing the whole intercooler upgrade kit. Still deciding if I should go with ETS or UR kit.

  • @fenderman1212

    @fenderman1212

    10 жыл бұрын

    Ripsco the CBRD did not make good power. made 320whp/335wtq on a mustang dyno. with the EF3 or GTX3076R I should be close to 400whp/400wtq. and I autocross and track the RA so thats possible but i never hard launch. FLUSH THAT SST FLUID!!!!! 25k is way late and will jeopardize your sst. I work part time at a performance shop out here and ive seen it. And the extra TORQUE is what made the clutches slip. 300-310lbft is the limit. and the intercooler ETS is the best. i have the ETS 3.5 inch and i have no heat soak on autox

    You mention tuning the tc-sst in a few of your videos being important with engine tunes/Cobb ap tunes but don't go much into that subject. What are some some reliable resources or means for a tc-sst tune? Downloadable like the Cobb ap tunes? Do you mean upgrading clutch packs etc? Looking into getting a ralliart and the info you've provided already has been extremely helpful and this was just part of my curiousity of upgrading a ralliart. Sorry for the long post and if this has been answered else where I haven't seen.

  • @fenderman1212

    @fenderman1212

    9 жыл бұрын

    Zachary Calvo Reliable- Opensource pro tune with a professional tuner (5150 racing, kozmic motorsports, etc) to strap your car to the dyno and adjust the tc-sst manually without using any "off the shelf" mapping. so no you can not download them clutch packs are upgradable and would recommend after 330tq or so.

    Hey Jon, I also have a 09 RA SST. How did you know when your clutch was failing? Not exactly sure what the signs of transmission failure are on an auto-manual.

  • @fenderman1212

    @fenderman1212

    10 жыл бұрын

    multijam012 The first signs are the clutches slipping. you will feel it.... you'll floor it and the car will seem sluggish and rev without moving too much. The '09's had a higher failure rate due to them being the "first" getrag TC-SST's so they have issues. Does yours seem different than when you bought it?

  • @multijam012

    @multijam012

    It does feel less powerful than when I bought it. It also revs from a stand still to about 4000rpm without moving much. Its hard to believe the clutch is failing because mine only has about 15,000 km on it.

  • @fenderman1212

    @fenderman1212

    10 жыл бұрын

    multijam012 You will have to Drop the transmission and send it out to Jacks transmissions, shep, or SSP, they are the ONLY ones who do upgraded clutches for the TC-sst, if you send it to mitsubishi they will charge you ass high prices for stock clutch packs.

    Carlos M Its a Stock Evo X frame turbo... not direct bolt on.. you need supporting mods (full-bolt ons..) such as injectors, fuel pump, intake, etc etc.. and i have the EF-3 currently getting installed this week with my SST. Will be posting an update video with my tune as well. You also need an X exhaust manifold and all lines/etc. Downpipe is also different with O2 housing.

I am around the same price i would have paid for an EVO MR... but almost twice the wheel horsepower. my RA will walk on any Evo MR that has light bolt ons and a tune.... thats why i dumped the money into a ralliart. besides... i wanted to be different and surprise all the evo guys here.

    The thing is... you will NEVER be an EVO... nor will you be able to out handle one. simple as that. if you buy the car to outrun and out perform the evo.. you will never be able to do this.. even with 10's of thousands you still wont have the chassis balance and performance of the EVO. Mark Koz There are LESS performance parts and less support than the evo platform. its good for a DD... not much else.

    The nice thing about the Ralliart is that it uses the same engine as the Evo, so u can fairly cheaply get it up to the EVO's straight like speed

    Hey man I'm looking to get a 10-11 ralliart, and was looking to build it to around 270-300whp. What mods should I be doing on the vehicle to achieve this. Honestly I would love 300 hp but that seems like a far fetch. Thanks in advance

    +TheJatt27 You will need an evo X turbo to achieve near 270-300whp. E85 stock turbo will place you around 270 dynojet, or 250-260 mustang dyno.

    WILDSTYLEVOLATILE because its a TD-04... more boost doesn't = a lot of power. the compressor size dictates the amount of power you will be making on certain boost.. EX: My Evo 8 on a 20g FP Green at 29psi makes 450whp....

    You have an amazing machine but...i Have been tuning cars for years. You will get a hell of a lot more power out of 110+ than you will that e85 shit. You do know that ethanol eats fuel lines and has been shown to clog injectors right? Why do you think the actual racers never run e85? They run nitro methane not methanol... I know its good for the ozone and all that. But honestly.. If you are building a performance car.. You are not worried about that. If you retune it on min. 100 octane your car would be a lot happier and in turn would make you happier as well. Nice car and nice build otherwise. Would love to see a track video of it

    Brian Iam Ive been running E85 on my car for 60k+ miles. fuel system runs fine. I have no idea what you're talking about no racers run E85... a TON of race teams have been running E85 with a lot of success in GTA and WTA...... My new EVO made more power on E85 than it did on 110 octane as well as it was 1/2 or less the cost (2.00 for a gal of E85).... I actually think you don't know anything about tuning on E85 as Ethanol does NOT corrode fuel system and does NOT clog injectors. i run pure E85 with zero issues.
