I only came to know the Portal series through Portal 2 years after it was released, but Portal 2 became my favourite game of all time and watching this announcement and the trailer (especially the music) still gives me chills. :)

This is honestly my favorite moment, however, it's honestly something that terrifies me, the moment "games as a service" *really* started to take off, when this downwards spiral of the industry happened.

10 years later n this game is STILL a masterpiece in EVERY way

Gosh this is so cool. It’s amazing to listen to this and think about what has happened since he said these words. I didn’t realize it at the time but we truly have gone through (in our lifetime) a transition from entertainment as a product (buy your game or movie or album) to entertainment as a service (Netflix, Hulu, Xbox Game Pass, Spotify) I was just a stupid kid in high school who was excited for a game to come to a console but it’s cool to see how correct Gabe was in a time before it was obvious to say

It's hilarious to me how he initially trash-talked the PS3 and then not only went on board with porting Portal 2 (say that seven times fast) but as you said, accurately conveyed the future landscape of gaming. Never really noted that portion of his speech until now, but that's pretty crazy actually
