    Haha yes! I think if it was a bit easier to put back together or more obvious it would be a 4 or a 3. I think the 5 level is because of the putting together part.

    Sorry. I’m new to puzzles. This one took me a year to solve... picking it up maybe twice a month. You are absolutely right. If you don’t understand how it comes apart, you will have an extremely hard time putting it back together. I didn’t think to put them side by side... I kept trying to slide the spheres together from the outside in and let the brackets sit in place. I had to watch this video to remember how mine even came apart. And then I instantly knew what to do. Guess I better go back down to a 3.... thank man!

    I got this as a random stocking stuffer for Christmas and solved it pretty fast but, as you said, not understanding how I solved it, I spent way too long trying to shove the two halves back together. The solution is so simple and elegant I'm kicking myself now. Thank you for the solution, it reminded me to think outside of the box; brute force is rarely the answer and I should have realized I was on the wrong track far sooner than I did. Lesson learned!

  • @sputukgmail
    @sputukgmail10 ай бұрын

    I love having this as a kind of fidget device as the engineering is so smooth and satisfying, that it’s always next to me and has a long appeal long after “solving” it. I looked up this video though as after playing with it for a few years, I suddenly noticed the holes in the inside of the marble and wondered if there had been an extra part which needed to be moved to one side of the marble, maybe with a spin, before the marble part would slide apart, and maybe I had dropped it without realising when I first solved it. Glad it seems there isn’t, but now I wonder if there should be to make this really a 5/6 difficulty as I think with that addition, few people would stumble on getting it apart, let alone back together.

Overall, I really like this puzzle.. heavy and wellmade to a point that you wanna challange other with it.. it feels nice in the hand.. I was so fund of it, that I now taken a dive into more of these puzzles as this item was a great ambassador to create an interrests for other puzzles in the same league. Very nice product

    Don't know how I stumbled across your vids, but you encouraged me to buy some hanayama puzzles, and this was my first one. Really lovely piece of engineering, feels so good to just fiddle with it. Personally I found it quite difficult (video makes it look easy, but when you're new to these metal puzzles it took me a while to crack, and then even longer to put it back together). The ball 'sticks' sometimes when you rotate it, so I was convinced there was some internal mechanism going on.

    On the Hanayama website it now says it's rated 4 stars. However I bought one this week and it still says 5 stars on it - guess maybe I got some old stock? 4 stars is still a bit high - I'm not an experienced puzzler (but have watched a number of videos on puzzles), took me 10-15 mins of casual playing around to solve it. Assembly was much more difficult, took closer to half an hour and it's still a bit fiddly.

    Ok, kinda' late to the show here, but after watching your solution I came up with a slight modification to it for people with small hands or lacking dexterity. I start with the pieces setup just like you show in your video, however, instead of picking them up I leave them standing on the table and slide them towards each other. Once they're in position, one behind the other, it's much easier to then slowly twist them together rather than trying to hold each "unit" in your hands. That's really my only complaint with Hanayama puzzles, they're machined so smooth that they can be difficult to reassemble because they're so smooth and slippery. Thanks for the videos and "Keep on Mr. Puzzling" !! :)

    Has anyone else noticed the hole in the very middle????? In my instructions it encourages you to look at the inside surfaces of the marble. I've also noticed yours has a larger hole than mine. I wonder what that hole is for? Could it be an unused way to make the puzzle harder, by inserting a ball bearing or pin? Then the correct orientation would also be needed to drop the pin / bearing due to gravity and slide the two parts of the marble apart?

    I did notice that and still wonder what the reason for it is. I can't imagine it doesn't serve any purpose, these things are so well made. I think this puzzle is very cool but I don't like how slippery it is to maneuver the marble pieces when they aren't together. It seems almost life a flaw. I couldn't figure out getting it together and lost my patience and looked here for the answer. I like the look of this puzzle very much and the weight of it. I just do not lie the way the 2 halves move way too easily when they are apart. Thanks for the video.. Now I can sleep 😉

    The difficuly really lies in the reassembly. I bet most if not all of you couldn't put it back together.

    Guten Tag.
