1:30 - We;re looking for a hole that's different from all other holes. Don't we all.

I got this puzzle 8 years ago. Today I gave up and watched this video. I can finally taste freedom.

"we are looking for one hole that is different than all the other holes" that's a life time quest right there my brother.

im watching because one day, i might have to solve a puzzle to save my life so I must watch all videos!! (love ur vids)

So I removed the ring from the helix a different way and when it came out I doubted that it was the right way so I came to check it out here. This solution that I found was all about the phisics of pushing the rotating parts against the ring causing more lbs of force then you could do with your fingers. I considered the outside of the holes to be a "hole" as well and from one of the outer holes I placed the outside end of the ring on the bottom frame (i hope this all makes sense) then I simply used the top frame and pushed it on the end of the ring thats on the frame until both frames were completely aligned. It required very little force (very very little) and the you slide the ring right out. I don't know if it's considered wrong but I saw it as "thinking outside the box" and it worked out quite well.

You kind of figured it out the hard way by looking closely at the holes, when those sausage shaped openings give the solution away more obviously

I collected puzzles when I was a kid. Now I enjoy watching your videos...

The Helix puzzle is far more challenging than the newer Nutcase and padlock puzzles, IMHO. From in the box, I had nutcase solved in less than 25 minutes, and Padlock was about 3 hours, but this helix took me at least 5 hours, finally had to watch this video. But now, on to trinity and vortex.. heh.

Awesome brass Puzzle. But i'm going to have to watch this video more than once. I can't put the silver loop back on the Star.

Next time can you keep the things inside the camera please when you move them around? It's frustrating not seeing what you talk about while you speak.

Played with this for an hour, found that place by chance and memorized its position using engraved "helix".

For another solution that uses a little different view, go find the Puzzle Guy. But you have to follow his steps exactly.

I actually found an alternate solution to the puzzle, but this one is more elegant.

and now having watched the disassembly i'm kicking myself because I was so close lol. I'd found the 'worn' sections, just didn't figure out how I needed to line them up.

Mine was labeled level 5. I dunno if i actually did it. Not trying to ruin it for myself. I just slipped one end of the ring through a low point of the star edges. Kinda took a slight amount of force, and i was able to reverse it.

Yes....... that's the way I first solved it. I assumed that was the proper way until I watched this video. The tolerances are a little too large and allow this alternate method.

Thank you. Now I know, that I have found a wrong solution... There was little bit of force necessary - but not too much.

If this were a six sided star shape with the ring beginning opposite to the solution holes AND it could only be removed if you shift it in one of the two possible directions, clockwise or counterclockwise, then you might have a 6 out of 6 puzzle. Interesting none the less.

3 weeks. I've watched this video at least 20 times while trying on the puzzle and still nothing. I simply do not see this discrepancy in the holes which you mention. This is really pissing me off.

It took me almost 2 hours to solve it after watching 3 videos about it. It takes quite a bit of force after you get the ring into horizontal orientation from the vertical orientation to actually remove it. My star-shaped pieces actually broke a little on the surface.

yes its so easy when you have done 345 puzzles in 10 years , but when you do this as a first ?????? In your life=?

I enjoy the videos , it opens different pathways of logic , it is educative and interesting in a special way , I think children should solve different kinds of simpler puzzles as a subject in a school in stead of some stupid subjects ! Or being part of an art subject or something .

It loks like the "borders" on the surface of those holes is second layer of puzzle, one of them does not have the breach but have second "pool" area. But it got skipped by just squeezing the ring off cos it is too loose. Or maybe not, i am not good at puzzles.

Ah, nevermind. I just thought that the holes are surrounded by the ridges and they are different for each hole.

The Last Phoenix you're correct, the ridge surrounding the hole is the key to solving, no need to strain your eyes looking for the small extra grind mark on the inside of the puzzle sides.

There's a glitch on this puzzle which makes it solvable in multiple positions. You can spring one end of the helix over the edge with minimal pressure.

I disagree - the alternate "glitch" method makes it a bit of a failure as a puzzle. If you want a real stinker of a puzzle, try the Radix. I have trouble with that one, even following Mr Puzzle's solution.

+Mr.Puzzle its Dificulty for 2y old kids. All this HANAYAMA is a scam. Its toys for kids. Not puzzles for adults

Solved a lot of 6/6 puzzles, this one is a really disappointing one, the solution uses a bit of force and it's not elegant, the issue is that there are a lot of other forced solutions in this puzzle, I'll rate it 2/5 design wise. Not recommended

BS. My seven year old grand daughter got the ring off and she did it by slipping it off the edge.

Did you know you can also solve this just forcing it? 😂😂😂
