    Kaiks, you had sent me a message after I'd posted about my experience doing this upgrade. I had not watched this update before now. And I have not had the problem with the evaporator, BUT I also have not driven my truck much. And not at all in city stop and go conditions. You are way beyond me in all of this programming and wiring. But two things I did notice that are different from my install. BP recommends that you do not set your fans to come on below 190. And they program them to come on in low together and then go into high together. But I don't know that either of those things would matter with the evaporator freezing. What I did notice, toward the end, is that that is not where they had me change the temperature switch to a pressure switch. It was the one down next to the radiator. Again, I don't know if that matters. One thing I do know from my past work, is that a lot of times when an evaporator freezes up on an AC system it's because of a low refrigerant charge. I hope you've already figured out the issue, or that this helps.

    So I did this exact swap and actually your video is what I went off to do it. I have a 2002 Silverado 2500hd and had this same exact issue when I was done. Compressor never cycled off low pressure. Found that same fourm and ran that wire from low pressure switch back to pcm and it worked perfectly. 99-02 are all wired the same so they all will have this no cycle issue if you don’t connect the low pressure switch according to that diagram. Great video and glad you fixed yours as well!

I did the c2-55 swap and hooked c2-17 wire up to the black wire on the plug at the accumulator but now my AC doesn’t come on at all. Well done covering the steps on the install video. On HP tuner, is there an option to run only one fan when you turn on the ac? Fan one seemed to do a pretty good job of keeping the coolant temp steady, even at idle in the garage. I would think, driving down the road at speed and the first fan on, you wouldn’t need to run the second fan to keep the ac blowing cold. I’ve been working on these trucks for 20 years and 200 degrees, second fan on, seems a little low. I live in the East Bay Area where we get 100+ summer days and my ‘01 Silverado sits steady 200 degrees operating temp. I plan to upgrade my truck to electric fans, I’m aiming to set the second fan to come on at 205 degrees. My truck only has 83k miles on it and the oil stays gold, very healthy engine. Iron blocks need more heat to get everything sealed up tight, if the block was aluminum I’d be keeping the temps lower, as I do with my ‘17 Chevy SS.

  • @CheeHooGarage

    @CheeHooGarage

    Жыл бұрын

    200 is low. The factory settings are 205 for fan 2. When I had it set to 205, I'm pretty sure it never came on. I set it to 200 just so I could verify it actually working. I'm probably going to change it back to 205, but that's what I was trying to prove to the guys that wire fan 2 directly to the clutch, it's really overkill.

    Cool to find this video..i have an 00 Tahoe and i had to upgrade my computer to an 0411 PCM..This switch should give you control of the ac fan with ac pressure..the fan shouldnt just come on because the ac is cycling. You should be looking at ac pressures not whether the ac is cycling or not. If you have constant fan on condition you need to upgrade your PCM..I will figure this out so thanks for pointing out it exist..

    I'm just thinking back, and you may know this, but on the AC loop you have your low side of the refrigerant loop coming out of the condenser and then going through the compressor and then being metered and then going through the evaporator into the high side. Maybe that switch you changed is on the high side and the one next to the radiator would be the low side???

  • @CheeHooGarage

    @CheeHooGarage

    11 ай бұрын

    So they are both low side. I did swap the one by the radiator with the bp sensor in the initial video. That's what the upgrade does. The factory one is just a switch, the bp one is a 3 wire sensor like the 03 and up trucks. When I first noticed my compressor not cycling, I replaced the one on the accumulator which actually didn't change anything. That's what happens when you use the analog setting. That's why I rewired the one on the accumulator. I appreciate you watching my videos and commenting. 👍

    On my 01 Silverado z71 I done the swap, with radiator fans, harness, fuses and all out of a 07 truck, took it and had them turned on and it done great for a year, then my AC comp started roaring, I done without ac for a year, then took it to an AC shop and had the compressor and system completely drained, changed, swapped, $600 worth of parts later and $200 labor, they can’t get the fans to come on and keep the pressure down on AC system, it built to 450psi, high is 300psi, he called n told me that’s what burnt up the first compressor and will burn out the new one too if ran like that. So now I’m on here trying to find and figure out a solution, I saw another posted video where a guy had the same problem I have with his and he simply jumped pin 86 on the fan relay to pin 86 on the A/C comp, so that when the a/c comp kicked on so did the fans automatically, now if that still allows the freeze up problem, wasn’t mentioned. I’m going to try that method as it seems the easiest to start with, and I don’t have the software or tuner that you have.

Switched it to #2 fan and analog. Charged my ac today and my compressor will not engage unless I jump the relay at under hood fuse box. Have tried jumping low side switch. Any idea what’s wrong? Also my harness is from a 2001 Tahoe and it doesn’t have a pigtail for the cutout switch on the back of the compressor. Pcm came from a 2002 silverado 2500hd and I don’t know if it had the cutout switch on back of compressor. Could my pcm be not grounding the 12v request because of the absent cutout switch? The his is how you tackle this. grab the ground from the AC glitch relay, tap that into the blue wire for high fan (use a diode) this will send ground to the FAN high. Place a diode and a fuse between the computer and the relay circuit to avoid voltage feedback. . The fan will cycle with the compressor. Don’t say anything is ghetto, if that the case the BP automotive kit is ghetto.
