Just a heads up for anyone that owns, or is thinking about owning a Dyson: it’s very important to empty the bin as soon as the dirt reaches the “Max” level, even if there’s space on the other sides. The cyclonic filtration system requires the space above the “Max” line to function, and neglecting to empty the bin once it reaches that level can actually affect the long term longevity of the vacuum and HEPA filter.

  • Жыл бұрын

I confirm. I once didn't empty soon enough, and my HEPA filter was full of shit at a moment's notice.

Good thing Dyson has a good washable pre-motor filter that protects the motor for situations like this and is designed to last for years before needing replacement.

@@battery_wattage Yes, designed to last for years when the vacuum is used as intended. Constantly letting the bin fill past the max level is not using it as intended. This is the same reason the filterless Dyson upright and canister vacuums failed-people failing to follow simple directions.

It’s funny how these instruction and warnings exist for a reason but most people are too arrogant to listen to them, then wonder why the product doesn’t work properly. I’ve always emptied mine before the Max fill line, and the filter stays clean for months at a time. Dyson need a way of cutting out the motor to force people to empty them when they should.

Hey, fantastic video as always. Have been using this in India for the past 6 months, and thoroughly impressed by it. Use it in a 3 BHK apartment it works like a charm. And coz of the size, it’s perfect for dusting places other than floors. This is my first Dyson ever, and am thoroughly impressed not only by their products but by their customer care as well. Also, what I like as compared to the other Dyson’s in the shop was the ‘RED BUTTON’. Tried using the trigger mechanism in the shops and did not like the experience. With the button it’s far more convenient. It’s a small thing but greatly impacts the usability of it. All in all I highly-highly recommend this product to anyone living in an apartments. It’s brilliant! And thank you VACCUME WARS for making such brilliant videos. It was your video which also convinced me to purchase a Deebot T8 with an Auto Emptying Bin. The Deebot along with the DYSON is absolutely insane. Greetings from India 🇮🇳

This is still without a doubt Dyson's best stick vac. Period. Lightweight. On/Off button. Smart display. Smart modes. Has the laser. Once again, LIGHTWEIGHT. My wife and I both love this thing, her especially because she can actually use it for more than 5 minutes without her arm aching like the ridiculously heavy models after this. On sale you can grab this thing for sub $500 and that is a steal. This combined with their standard canister vac is the perfect combo.

I personally like the bigger ones like the V15 and Outsize, but I like that they offer a slim version for people who have a preference against the size of those units. The numbers are impressive too! It is crazy that suction and airflow numbers on these cordless units are starting to rival corded units. If I had money, I would buy one.

This channel is easily the best source for impartial reviews if you're buying a new vacuum. One thing I'd love to see added though, is a decibel test, which measures the vacuums noise at the different power levels. This could include all the Dyson, RugDoctor and Bissell machines. This would be so useful, thanks

We have owned and still own several Dyson products. I can’t explain the level of frustration we are experience with Dyson Support in resolving a problem with our V12. In less than a year the Motorbar cleaner head is inoperable and doesn’t work. So far we have been sent two replacement cleaner heads. Both were the wrong heads. It’s has been such a time consuming experience, with any resolution in sight. We are looking into unloading and selling all of our Dyson purchases and will tell everyone we know to reconsider their own purchases.

I briefly tested both of the cooler, newer Dyson vacuums, and I found that on normal mode the bigger V15 Detect was quite a bit stronger on my low pile carpet than the smaller V12 Detect Slim. On normal mode the V12 Detect Slim just felt lack luster to me on carpet suction power, it did not feel confident, unless you use turbo mode, which drains the battery exceedingly fast and only lasts about 5 minutes. Even on turbo mode it still felt like the weaker unit, you get a feeling that the smaller unit is trying way too hard and may wear out eventually. Turbo mode on the V15 Detect felt perhaps too strong for normal use, which is as it should be. While battery life on both units on normal mode should be good enough, I would still purchase a second battery to have charged up and ready to go. In the end, the better carpet performance is the biggest deciding factor for me, even though I only have one bedroom of carpet and perhaps a future living room throw rug. Although both Dysons should be great for hard floor surfaces. The V15 Detect also has a better overall package with its bigger dust collection cylinder and the better multi purpose vaccum head. And it’s added weight was OK for me, I did not initially find the smaller one be that compelling on just size alone. However, the newer V12 Detect Slim still has the much better push button start method vs the older V15 Detect gun trigger method, which is potentially very tiresome. I just hope they eventually update the V15 Detect to have a push button start, as the V15 Detect is the far better unit in my estimation.

Thank you for another great review We watched and ended up with a new V12 Detect Slim Fluffy 2 days ago.. Our V11’s trigger button stopped functioning last week (after 2.5yrs). Our personal opinion is the V12 is so much better in terms of : 1) no more trigger (the V11 trigger stopped working after 2.5yrs). It was a pain having to press the trigger all the time. Now it’s just an on and off switch which is great. Less tiring and it’s easier to grip the handle without the trigger. 2) the screen showing the different modes and particles pick up is cool 3) the laser light is fantastic esp when used at night. Really shows up all the dust that we may miss. It illuminates and the greenlight is pleasing to the eye. 4) Much easier to manoeuvre because of the lighter weight when compared to the V11. 5) Suction power is still the same. 6) The battery is easy to change if needed. With the V11, inorder to repair the trigger, they had to change alot of parts. That’s why we decided to get the V12 Detect Slim Fluffy (we don’t have carpets). The smaller dust bin is not an issue for us as we live in a moderate size apartment. We empty the bin after each cleaning rather than accumulate. There was some instruction to let the previous V11 machine cool down before charging to let the battery last longer - so we decided to do the same for the V12. Frankly, if one has a V11 and it’s still working well, I don’t think there is a need to upgrade to the V12 if you have no issues with the weight or the trigger of the V11.

But if I had to buy another one (if my house was bigger) I wouldn’t think about it twice. My gas is 90% wood floor and tile and it does the job. Any big chunks you still have to pick up. But hairs. I’ve had the v12 slim for about a week. Dyson sells all the replacement parts except for the wand. So if you switch out the heads often (I have a mix of floor types), it can get a bit tiresome to flip the vacuum over and fiddle with the swap. A second wand would make the change outs a lot easier. Other than that I’m really happy with it.

These new ones are okay but the V7 isComplete trash can after a year. I’ll research more on how to maintain them but it’s so bad rn… & their air purifiers tested lower than a box fan and a single air filter so they can fooq off properly. The main attachment that makes the vacuum handheld doesn’t even suck up dog food or water bottle caps because it’s too small of an opening so obviously that’s a marketing scam right there. Air blows directly in your face and also in regular vacuum mode it literally doesn’t even suck up dog food so… I literally despise them but these new ones are looking so good I’m debating on getting jet 90 or one of these new dyson designs kinda like the Omni-glide. I just need that unit to suck up a piece of dog food. is it that hard….. 🥴 also sorry this is messy texts. super tired & using voice to text lol I just hate them so much but dang these new ones look good. If anyone cares help me decide the jet or one of these ? So torn 👾 99% sure the deciding factor is going to be who has the clean station. I’m about to look it up but I don’t know if Dyson has one I feel like they should though. That would be 🫶🫶

This isn't engineering, and people don't appreciate it either. Look at apple. People buy this for the brand recognition, lgs and Samsungs have better placement for their on buttons, are lighter, and the Samsungs have a lot better of a dust bin for emptying and not making a massive mess. Their batteries are junk and don't last long at all, and degrade rapidly. They're disposable like junk shark vacuums, and vacuum wars unfortunately shills to both brands. Commerical or high end vacuum makers make cordless vacuums that mop the floor with these in power and utility, but aren't marketed like dyson and sold at big box stores, and if they were and they were actively demoed, people wouldn't buy dyson anymore

@@alexpetree2038 which samsung do you prefer? I've been shopping for a cordless vac for a week, have put a lot of time into researching online and having a tough time. I think I feel what you're saying in my gut, about "disposable junk" - I paid almost a thousand for my 30 year old corded Kenmore and it still works great. I don't feel like paying many hundreds for disposable junk. I want something reliable, that doesn't get a bunch of hair spun around the roller and not too heavy.

here's a few more things to consider. I have a karcher vc4i, dyson v7 pro, dyson outsize, makita XLC04 18v, makita GLC01 40v, and makita vc4210m. i feel that there are many things beyond power and battery life to consider. eg, 1) ergonomics (holding it for more than 30mins), how it's held 2) dumping the dirt 3) what happens when you accidentally suck in water, eg, in kitchen use, or intentionally suck in water 4) how easy is it to clean the vacuum 5) ease of use to swap battery 6) charging times. after owning all the above vacuums, I have come to say that my fav vacuum is both makita stick vacuums. way more over the both dyson. but my usage is 95% on hardfloor. here's a something for battery life, makita 18v using 9A battery is low~180mins , med~60mins, high~30mins. and I could use it all day (3-4hrs of usage per day) without feeling sore due to it's ergonomics. but dyson , 30mins is a pain. the only time i use beyond 1hour is when i did my home renovation and usage in the workshop. I also did a personal test. how long it took me to vacuum my SOHO house. makita ~20mins, karcher ~25mins, dyson 30mins. dyson unability to attach it's attachment to itself is also a problem, running back to the base to get the crevice and or brush option, adds time. that said. makita charging is so much faster. it takes me 1-2 hours to full drain the battery but it takes 45-90mins to full charge the battery. the balance of using a bigger and heavier battery on makita made it even more balanced, not to mention the cyclone attachment allows water. and all the plastics are with fibreglass, making it more durable. if you use the dyson to vacuum broken glass or stone chips vs using makita, the wear and tear is quite obvious. as for the green laser, 3 years ago i attached a cycling light to the floor head attachment of makita and I could see as far as 1-2m in the day and 4-5m in the night. dyson's laser barely goes 0.5m in the day making it almost useless. as for hepa, both makita are rated for L class filtration, which is OSHA compliant. not saying that dyson is all bad. for carpet and sound level, dyson IS the quietest. but for ergonomics, pricing, accessories options, battery charging, it actually rank the one of the lowest in my view. a few more test to consider. 1) many of us use vacuum the store our winter clothes in vacuum bags to flatten and store winter clothes until 9 months later. you cant use dyson, it cuts out the motor. 2) the option to turn on the vacuum without actually holding onto the trigger. dyson, you need to actually hold the trigger, eg try vacuuming the dog with pet options. dyson is the most unusable vacuum . 3) how far can you go under the bed without swapping accessories. dyson has the shortest reach. 4) what happens if you use hardfloor attachement on carpets. dyson once again performs the lowest of all my vacuums. that said, the actual surface area that I have to vacuum daily is approx 300-400 sqm split between 5 floors, including stairwell.

You'll have to do a review of the Halo Capsule. I'm seeing a lot of comparisons online between that and Dyson and given Dyson's rather disingenuous use of version specific mounts and connectors I think there are a lot of people interested in seeing a genuine competitor.

Great review as always. Just bought a V12, and I was immediately looking for additional accessories. I have read that while the powered attachments are not interchangeable between models, all the unpowered "red-button" ones are, all the way back to V7, which the Dyson website also seems to indicate. Is this correct?

  • @VacuumWars

    @VacuumWars

The major concern we have seen is the differences in power specs, so the unpowered ones would be a safer bet. We can't promise that all of them will work together, so we recommend checking with Dyson.
