Dyson V11 Trigger Replacement & Plastic Repair

Ғылым және технология

Today we will be replacing the broken trigger on a Dyson V11 Vacuum cleaner. Due to its placement in the unit it will require a complete disassembly to swap out. Since this trigger is a weak link and hard to get to I'd opted for a metal trigger replacement rather than the OEM plastic.

I accidentally ripped the white and black wires off the board. I thought I stuffed it up but I tried putting it back to the two holes and it seems to be working and charging fine. Would you know what the two wires are for if I will have any issues later down the track?

I would have thought Dyson would use better materials with their name on product. Anyways, found your video most instructive. Thanks! BTW, the tip on Baking soda with super glue is new to me, will use it in future.

I made the repair, but nothing happened when I pressed the switch. The reason: the new lever is a little too long. As soon as I put the battery in, it turns on. The reason it didn't seem to turn on at the first try was because if the switch was "pressed" without a filter, it doesn't turn on automatically when a filter is put on afterwards (I have the older version without LCD). If I put the filter on first and then put the battery in, it starts the motor. I'm now wondering if I can find a solution without having to take everything apart again and shorten the lever - but it looks like I'll have to do that.

I took it apart again, filed it down a bit and put it back together - IT WORKS NOW! I could start with Dyson, now it's a breeze to take it apart and put it back together. Not 100% sure if it was the filing or if I didn't screw the switch part in far enough the first time. No matter the reason it works now and I'm happy and feel like a hero!

This is a nightmare from repair perspective. I did cleaning and service of my older Dyson vacuum and it was as bad as your newer cordless model. Their stuff is nice and shiny when new and promoted heavily, but PITA to maintain when few years old. Now I went back to ordinary vacuum with paper bags.

This is the only thing that has broken on my V11. Not a fan of the crap plastic on all models though.
