Correction to the video at 3:06. I had the units on the scale set incorrectly and misread them a little higher than they actually are. Actual weights are 5.5 pounds, 6.5 pounds, and roughly 8.3 pounds. Sorry about that!

I have gen 5 detect. The electric carpet brush has most likely been redesigned, so compared to the V15 electric brush with Gen 5, it has a much stronger suction power and if the length of the red hairs were the same as the black ones, the roller sucked to the carpet would stop. I already notice a difference in gen 5 - the shaft rotates with greater difficulty than in v15. On the Gen 5 I had to have the brush set in the middle position so it wouldn't slow down or stop a lot in Auto mode, and on the V15 I could have it all the way to the right with the front openings fully closed and the brush only slow down a little.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was modified. The smaller Gen5 has a more aggressive powerhead than the outsize model. They said in their marketing the machine uses 25% less plastic than the outgoing models (V15 and Outsize).

Hi @VacTech1, I enjoyed this review very much, so helpful. Just one question… I have the V15 and have just seen that I can buy the Gen5 wand with the built-in piece separately but on their website it says it’s compatible with the Gen5 unit only. I’m pretty sure they have the same connections are you able to verify this for me so it’s not a wasted purchase!

I know that most folks tend to keep vacuuming until the bin is full. The marked line on the bin is important, just as the maximum fill line on a disposable vacuum bag is. The power is diminished when the bin is over full and the filtration system is compromised.

The fake pet hair doesn’t compact down in the bin, but I wanted to load up the large bin for the sake of it, to show it holds a lot. During normal use, you don't want to fill the bin above the max fill line, but in these tests it didn’t affect performance.

Its lacking the torque drive digital motorbar. Which is good for carpeted stairs and slightly heavier carpets. Not enough oomph for slightly heavier carpets with the conventional digital motorbar. My V11 absolute pro is awesome on heavier carpets and carpeted stairs. Plus i get 80 minutes on Eco mode. It also has the torque drive digital motorbar.

Man I can’t do Dyson anymore, I replaced them wayyy to much so i settled with the lg all in one tower, way better features and wayyyyy better loyal warranty!

The LGs look nice, but the power heads look wimpy to me so I haven’t bought one yet. The best Dyson stick vacs still out-clean all the competitors on carpeting.

I rather buy 3 Dyson animal 3 instead of a cordless

V15 is FAR better especialluy when you consider the weight

Seems like you just like to complain and instigate arguments online. I’ve seen you comment on the last 6 videos that people have posted about their own experience and opinion with the Dyson Gen5.

You’re so worried about the ‘weight’ but I think you just can’t afford it so instead of just moving on with yourself and not buying it you’d rather comment on every video that post positive about the Dyson Gen5 and try and shove your ‘it’s over weight and too heavy’ opinion on everyone else. You’re not holding the vacuum in one hand above your head the whole time. You literally push it around and the weight is on the ground If that is hard work for you then I don’t know what to tell you because that’s sad! 😂😂😂

And the smaller main cleaner head has stiffer red bristles than the bristles on the XL cleaner head. So the smaller one can deep clean carpets better
