Here we port a P08 D16z6 Head and we share dyno sheets of a stock head
vs our ported head and then some... We discuss the certain approach we do
and as well as the certain grits we use for shaping and then the final finishing touches
oh and btw all 3 runs, there was no cam change done, I realize there are some there that do some tests but secretly change cams to show better numbers
look at the dyno sheets all 3 u can tell the same cam was maintained as the shape of the graph is consistent
We also talk about our use of Dykem and Marker ink on helping view the pattern and also for port matching needs and many more
a video that would help compliment is this port matching video here
Liking and sharing this video helps get it to a wider audience as it favors those who are wishing to understand and learn about these things
we covered a Pr3 b16 head, a crv p75 head and even a d16y8 sohc vtec head so this P08 is right in time

I agree! The reason for the result as observed, is mainly it got to a point that the stock head has become the limiting factor hence once the Ported head was installed it let it breath as it wanted and needed to

Heads can make a world of difference, I have a Jeep 258, Dyno'ed old stock head (low intake and 90° turn into valve) and then switched to a newer 4.0 7120 Head (Intake is raised up and allows more flow). No other changes, didn't port or match or ANYTHING, just slapped on a newer design with better flow but still factory crap, lol. Dyno'ed yesterday with new 4.0 head. Previous 258 Head: 103.7 HP 188.6 TQ Current 258 with 7120 4.0 Head: 127.3 HP 211.2 TQ Overall gain: + 23.6 HP + 22.7 TQ That's huge with no tooling work done, plus my RPM limit raised about another 750!! Next is the Aluminum Edelbrock head, this is when things will get FUN. But I post to say, yeah, they are often overlooked by many.

Cool question! Yeah we could do that and sometimes it’s needed yeah but on “my” way slimming that out also adds “port volume” or increases it, That’s the story why when some use those kinds of head? And don’t reach their goal? Those involved would say “needs more comp” or “needs more cam” or “needs more rpm” Which all says “too much” port volume On that project for Austria (the ones dynoed) run GT35 and good ecu so we know power is expected from boost and the head can be street/mild and still do good? Heck they made 400whp on stock head :)

Love honda guys because they are usually the only people that are doing more than slapping a turbo on and cranking up the boost to make power..They actually build the engine. Why i was on honda forums to build a mitsubishi because NO ONE builds a 6g72 all-motor so the only knowledge base to do a max-effort all-motor build for one is honda guys. And welp i have a 3.0l v6 that runs like a honda motor lol. Not much torque down low and everything up top and it goes 9k rpms+.

Even polished the combustionc hambers on it..And completely gutted the car so 1 seat with an 8-point cage, no abs,A/C power steering and its on solid engine mounts with a built trans using a quaife qdh7b Lsd. @@SRDmotorsports Biggest problem i keep running into is no tuner wants to touch it in my area and a lot of parts were 1-offs. Tuners dont wanna touch it because its like 1 of 2 all-motor 6g72's in the country the other is technically a 6g74 built in n.c still using the stock intake manifold. So wound up having to teach myself how to tune it through ecuflash. The irony of having to learn how to tune a car because the pros wont touch it is not lost on me. Im really trying to describe the engine sound..Its more like a yamaha R1 with the cross-plane crank in it. Definintly sounds more motorcycle than car.

I understand that part where no tuner wants to touch it… and no hate to the tuners a lot out there are really good and good people But most aren’t builders…so for safety they avoid it but as a builder + tuner I understand why… it’s also why I don’t throw hate like most tuners 😎 cuz I’m a builder first… And that’s good u getting to tune ur stuff u got an advantage cuz Ilu understand the motor well as per your design… And oh yes!!!! I’m sure you’ll get a laugh at what im thinking about doing but here goes. I have an ‘09 Tacoma base model with a 2TRFE 4cyl motor, im at 265k and I know im going to need to either rebuild or better yet a 1GR v6 swap or if I hit the lottery a 2URGSE 5.0 swap but realistically funds are limited here. These little 2.7 couldn’t be any more under powered , any slower and I’m in reverse. There is the option for running a SC from URD but that’s also almost 5k for just the set up not including the labor to install and tune. So here’s my question and sry for the long background, have you ever done a Toyota 2TRFE head and would it be worth it if it would be possible to do?
