    Ok. Someone in my discord shared your review. LOVE it!! I’m a huge Dynaudio fan and have had the Emit 50, Evoke 50, and Focus 50 in house this year for review. LOVE THEM!! Best in show at Axpona 2023 and 2024 for us!! Great review. Subscribed 😊😊

    Congrats on your new speakers!. I Have owned a lot of Dyns over the years and currently have C4 Platinums. The Evidence is a completely different beast, especially the Master. They need a very large room and are not for everyone. Thanks for the video and enjoy your journey.

    It is not often I believe that it is thundering outside when hearing it in speakers. But with my Dynaudio Evoke 50 I have experienced that I believe that it was thunder from the outside of the house. Very realistic sound. Confidence 20 is on my wishlist. I believe that the 20 is a good fit for my room.

    Great review.😃 I most say that I am a little biased since I own a pair of Dynaudio Confidence 30. Before I purchased them, I listened to the Wilson Sabrina X, , Focal (can't remember the model) and a few others and I fully agree with your review and assessment. While I did not compare the Confidence 50 with the Confidence 30 ( out of my price range), the tweeter and and midrange are amazing. They are good for pop, rock, etc, but they are absolutely incredible with classical and jazz. As far as the bass is concerned, I combined them with a pair of REL S/510 subwoofers. Best of both worlds. 😁

    Hi Yeah I'm a Dynaudio fan. An upgrade from many. You must have bags of current and watts. I would look at Bryston Vittus or Michi power amps in the sensible money power amp area. I h ave heard these with Mc Intosh 601 monos...ok but I'm sure the speakers could want more in terms of quality. I have speakers with Esotar ones and peerless drivers. Very much like Duntech who used Dynaudio drivers back in the days where Dynaudio sold their drivers to other makers. Like Duntech they have addressed time step on the baffles. Top choice. Well done. Enjoy.

    Thanks man! I'd see how the black edition specs. Dyn putting the esotar 3 on the black edition is a game changer for what I would assume the pricing will be (guessing around $7,500). My thought is it's the non-limited edition replacement to the Heritage Special.

    Great review. You are very knowledgable. Love these speakers and I love the sleek look, yet they have a good deal of internal volume. One thing that wasn't clear to me is how much continuous power would they need to shine in good sized room. 250 watts into 4 ohms per channel or more like 300-400 watts??? With a measured efficiency of 87db, I would think 250 watts should be more than enough but I'm not sure

    Hello. Great review. Your enthusiasm is contagious. It's got me really considering getting a pair of these. However, there's a nagging question in my mind. This is kind of technical, but here goes. Speaker cones will start "beaming" at certain frequencies, depending on the size of the cone. (Hopefully you're familiar with the term.) The mid-range drivers on the Confidence 50 are 15 cm. My understanding is that a driver of this size will start beaming at around 2300 Hz. And yet the crossover point on the Confidence 50 is 2860 Hz. Doesn't this create a dip in mid-range frequency response when listening with the tweeter at ear height? And doesn't it affect the overall tonal balance in the room (since there's not as much dispersion at frequencies where beaming occurs)? Alternatively, if you listen with one of the mid-range drivers at ear height (instead of the tweeter), it seems like you'd get a dip in high-frequency due to beaming from the tweeter. Have you noticed anything like this? Like if you move your head up and then down a few inches, is there a significant shift in tonal balance. Relatedly, where do you typically position your ears relative to tweeter and/or mid-range height?

  • @HiFiTurtle

    @HiFiTurtle

    Ай бұрын

    There is a shift but thats true of any speaker Ive experienced. My ear hight is more in line with the bottom midwoofer. Dyn's suggestion is to be ~5° below the tweeter so theyre likely doing something with the tuning, crossover, and the baffle to adjust. The MTM configuration helps with the vertical dispersion as well.

    Just a side note Focal was the maker of the tweeters for Wilson Audio before they switched beryllium. I actually like the beryllium better than the scan speak tweeter they use now. I have both in my house. The Scan speak is a little softer, thus soft dome but not as quick as the beryllium. Either speaker would have a better cross over than these. I don't get how those sound like anything but I guess if the stars aligned right, maybe?

  • @HiFiTurtle

    @HiFiTurtle

    Ай бұрын

    I don't think Wilsom ever used Focal's beryllium tweeters, always used their aluminum/magnesium or TNF. Wilson also pots their crossovers, I've never seen a Wilson crossover, and I doubt anyone outside their factory has. So I dont think you can say without a shadow doubt their crossover is "better."

  • @azar3006

    @@HiFiTurtleTo say I am shocked by the crossover is an under statement ! A $33,000 speaker that has $1.25 capacitors and $.50 sand cast resistors in it. There is no way they couldn’t improve the parts quality of their crossover ! I upgraded my crossover parts and now my speakers sound better than speakers costing twice as much, not to mention because of the reduced ESR the speakers are twice as loud meaning you can use a much smaller amplifier to drive them ! This is an insult to the average consumer no matter how good they sound, they can easily be made better !

  • @theoracleprodigy

    @theoracleprodigy

    Ай бұрын

    @@HiFiTurtle Your right they never used Focal's beryllium tweeter. They used the softdome tweeter before Focal made the beryllium tweeter. Focal decided a while back not to supply drivers anymore and create their own speaker. As for the crossover, you can see them in a how it's made Willsons video. Quite interesting to watch. Those guys have something special with cabinets but they don't make their own drivers. You can see the brands and crossovers in that video. I am not saying Willson's are for everyone but the parts they use are way above average.

    A very enjoyable review. A quick technical point - these aren't point sources, as the distance between the tweeter and midrange needs to be within a quarter of the crossover frequency wavelength. Realistically this is only achievable with coaxial drivers if using a midrange / tweeter setup.

    Crossover parts???? Most important

  • @HiFiTurtle

    @HiFiTurtle

    Parts or design? I think some audiophiles get too wrapped up about parts. Just because a crossover contains the most exotic parts does not guarentee an outstanding design. Likewise a crossover using "cheap" parts does not mean low quality. A smart designer knows the qualities and values of components and will select the best for the design's purpose. In some cases that means the cheap stuff is a better selection than exotic.

    @@HiFiTurtle everyone. Those look cheap and chintziest I've ever seen. Like less than $25 in parts. The gray resistors, try .99 cents; the inductors those are solid core, around $10, and the caps not sure on the quality of those either. I see one resistor that's quality and one cap that's mundorf. In comparison I have a bookself two way design with around $500 in parts and 2nd order filters. Those are not necessarily needed, but for baffle step compensation it is. The crossover you showed I would expect in cheap box store speakers.

  • @HiFiTurtle

    @HiFiTurtle

    Ай бұрын

    @@theoracleprodigy would it make you feel better if the parts were $75 or $150? Would it be better if it were? I said this in another comment that the obcession of parts in a crossover is short sighted. The design is whats important, unless you were there with the designer and understood and saw the data they had in testing and development it will always just be hearsay. A good designer knows the values of parts and will select the best for the design's purpose. Seeing jumbo sized caps and inductors is not a guarentee of quality just like seeing Waygu or Kobe is not on a steak menu. Also, missing from Dyn's page is the board for the tweeter so there is potentially something palateble going on there to your visual inspection
