Yes, the game is fully international ~

The Mandarin dub version is the best, because they actually refer them by their courtesy names as well, such as Cao Cao(Mengde), Sun Jian(Wentai), Liu Bei(Xuande), Lu Bu(Fengxian), Sun Ce(Bofu), Guan Yu(Yunchang), and Zhao Yun(Zilong).

eng dubs are bad because i heard that teh VAs were on strike back then, so they had to pull in new guys. unfortunately they sound like amateurs

I agree! It sounds very good after being so long the Dynasty Warriors series had no Chinese dubs. And I really think Koei should stick with giving the DW characters speaking in Mandarin only while the Samurai spinoff can focus with the Japanese voiceovers. If there is going to be another Orochi crossover game, make them voice in their native language.

takarifan Bad idea. You are aware that most people in Japan don't speak Chinese just as most people in the U.S. don't speak Spanish right? If the game would be limited to just ONE dub, it would be Japanese, because Japan is where the bulk of the Musou audience are located.

These voices are totally fitting into the characters. Even the Qiao Sisters do not sound cringy like before.

Awesome! Suzuki (the producer) wasn't lying when he said he really want to have QUALITY Chinese dub in this iteration. The only complaint I have is that Zhang He doesn't sound gay in his Chinese dub as well as his overall de-feminizing since he was at his best in DW6 (high heels, flirting with and being turned on by Xiahou Yuan, etc.).

The thing is that...actually the Chinese names at 3-kingdoms' era might sound more like the Japanese reading of the Chinese characters, cause Japan got their Kanji pronunciation from around Tang dynasty (7-9th century), while modern Chinese (specifically speaking, the Mandarin dialect) developed at a much later era.

It's always been like this in the Japan & Asia releases. The reason they disregarded the use of courtesy names in the Western release is probably because their regular names are already foreign-sounding to Western audience and including their courtesy names would cause too much confusion.

Damn this is the best dub so far English sometimes had wrong timing for the voice(dw6-8 voices) Japanese voices makes everyone sounds same But this is good man

Oh shit, did they get the legit Zhang Fei actor from the 3 Kingdoms show? Sounds exactly like him. I have a feeling the budget for the Chinese dub was waaaay higher than the English one.

Wow, didn't know they add Guan Xing and Zhang Bao. Years ago they were the generic officers. I only played until Orochi 2 on ps 2, and then DW 7 (or 8) on my friend's PlayStation 3 (or 4, I really dont remember). Glad they're now playable.

Viperqueen Suzuki (the producer) did make it a point that he wanted the Chinese voice actors to sound as close to the original Japanese cast as possible.

My favorite of the series. This game is so good

I'm waiting for XL9, or maybe even E9. I don't like what I see here. Would be nice to travel around China, but what good is that when they've butchered so many of the characters and taken away the weapons that make them special?

There are some Voice Character is also used by some actor from Three Kingdom TV Serie Episode.

If you wonder why you don’t hard Cao Cao instead of Cao Mengde. Or Zhang Liao of Zhang Wenyuan (because they use their Styled name)

I recently played again DW2 and DW5, and damn... It was A LOT more fun than DW6 - 7 - 8. The IA since DW6 is pretty bad. I honesty don't like certain things like the outfits, vocies and lines, for example for Zhou Yu, but well... In DW8 his outfit looks more better.

Hate to burst a bubble but, DW6 had some great voice acting. I hate the game but, the voice acting was on point compared to 7 and 8. Plus, the cast was the same from 5 until 8. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Bash the english cast if you'd like to. Even if the english cast from dw8 were used, I wouldn't hesitate to pick the chinese audio in a heartbeat.

Surprisingly from what I've seen on the option menu of someone playing in European text, YES... All three audio will be included on-disc from the get-go.

And this is where people with no brain forget that KT America chose the dumb, ear raping, mispronunciating cast which was used for this game. Oo. Wang Ii. See-ma Ii. See-ma she. Zhang Hee. Etc. The list could be never ending. Ngl, I’ll be using the Japanese dub mostly with how horrible the English sounds. Jia Chong, Wang Yi and Zhenji especially. Last two voices don’t fit their characters and Jia Chong’s VA sounds like he’s literally a teen reading from a script in an attempt to make people in his class laugh. But, everyone laughs for the wrong reasons, of course-

Wenqian is Yue Jin's courtesy name. Think of it as his "adult name".

Courtesy name. Back then when you are born your parent give you a name and when you reach adulthood you give yourself a courtesy name at that moment on it is kinda disrespectful to address an adult by their given name. Only people that are really close can refer by that name
