Dynasty Warriors 8: XL CE - Wei Story Mode 1 - Escape from Luoyang (Ultimate)

This is the start of my DW8XLCE playthrough. This is the PS4 version and since I have every character leveled up with their strongest weapons, I'm playing on Ultimate difficulty. Ultimate difficulty raises enemy attack and defense to the max, occasionally buffs them, makes the AI use musou much more often, makes only +50 HP and +1 Musou items appear from pots, and lowers the drop rate from defeated enemies so low you almost never get items. And since it's story mode, I have no bodyguards to help make it easier on me. However if you set Red Hare as your mount in Free Mode, your horse will have the effects of Red Hare in story mode so my horse never gets interrupted and I can heal by killing enemies atop it.
Now with that out of the way, the stage itself. You immediately have to run like hell from Lu Bu and fighting him in this stage on this difficulty is not advisable. Certainly not with Cao Cao who only triggers elements for one of his attacks. Lu Bu has the deadliest musou in the game, with a huge AoE and being unblockable, and its his one most likely to trigger if you manage to juggle him. So unless you like restarting a lot, it's best to just do as the game wants and run away.
If you're fast enough, you can get Lu Bu to be blocked by Xiahou Yuan barring the doors and he'll eventually lose interest. Since this is XL, Chen Gong shows up for this stage to fight you alongside the ballistae and man ballistae can be a bitch in this game. Particularly on this difficulty with a musou officer nearby. Aside from that you basically just continue to run away. Diaochan shows up to help you for a bit too. You pretty much see Dong Zhuo's entire officer line up in this stage, aside form Jia Xu.
Also I happen to really enjoy the cutscenes, particularly for early Wei.

I still love the transition from cutscene to game play.
Funny how Chen Gong attacks Cao Cao in this game, but in DW7 he helped him escape from Luoyang.

I think they wanted to show that Chen Gong had his emotional spot towards the friendship of Cao Cao, but at the same time they both had different views of a land of piece. But yeah it is ironic

Even in Dynasty Warriors 9 the game at least shows that Chen Gong initially joined with Cao Cao but after seeing Lu Bu he decides to betray Cao Cao and become Lu Bu’s stratigest in Wei’s story.

@@flipcamgamer in the novel, Chen Gong used to be with Cao Cao but when he killed his adopted uncle and his family, Chen Gong ditched him
I love the music in this stage, a very heroic version of the main Wei overture. I absolutely love it!

It’s ironic to think that an extremely greedy and self-important Dong Zhuo would say words that created the ambitious personality of the Cao Cao we know today.
2:30 the best part of the game as i loved it when i played it for the first time
So Extreme Legends actually replaces chosen npcs with their playable selves. That's what I thought.

Nah ballista have a glitch that cancels grabs, been like it since DW6.
It has been a long since you made a DW8 VIDEO.It's a great game,esccially because of sweet heart Lingqi(:
in the novel, pretty much cao cao escape all by himself.. then for some short period of time he got a got relationship with chen gong.. oh well, still waiting for the DW9..

@@NateSzup while fulfilling the gameplay, they should patch the Jin story to make it to the later Wu stories as well, until eventually everything fall under Jin

You have to endure whatever he dishes at you. And if you do manage to kill it, you're at risk of failing the objective of letting Cao Cao die (since he is the commander, given if you're playing with Dun or Yuan), or die trying to escape alone because Dun and Yuan will 95% run because higher difficulty means your ally will die easily compared to lower difficulty.
Hye bro i also have DW 8 xtreme legends on ps3. But why i can't play the real story? Please help me. I have too DW XL 8 on ps3.i just wanna know why i can't play the real story shu wei su jin others.

You need the base game for that, Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends is the expansion disc that unlocks some stuff, but it doesn't have Story Mode
In your opinion which one more fun dynasty warriors 7 or dynasty warriors 8 Xaldin?

So I have zhao yun’s 5th and 6th weapon and I went into ambition mode to change one from heaven to man or earth but it wouldn’t let me

You have the materials to do it? Also make sure the blacksmith is upgraded enough to where it can do it.
