how long does it take for the bone holes to fill in after implant removal. When can you start heavy lifting

Hello, normally for screw holes its can take 3-6 months to heal. But often there are many factors that can predict whether the screw holes will be fully covered with new bone or not. Sometimes the holes persist for several years but the bone in holes periphery become smooth. So, heavy lifting should be started after 6 months of implant removal procedure. Considering these risks, with newer implants, it is not necessary to get implants removed if not absolutely indicated.

@@Justorthothingsthanks for the information. I had distal radius fracture 12 months ago. i can do heavy lifting bit i want to take the plate out. Are the chances high for the bone holes in forarm to heal fully.

@@technominds4615 Usually, it is advised to not get the plate removed unless it is creating any problem. But if it's necessary, six months is a safe time to gradually start heavy exercises. Yes, usually the screw holes heal by that time.
