Dylan Hartley's Red Card Premiership Final Shame! | RugbyPass Offload | Rugby News | Podcast

Спорт

Dylan Hartley relives his red card for Northampton Saints against rivals Leicester Tigers in the 2013 Premiership final. As a result he missed the British & Irish Lions tour to Australia starting just 2 days later and had his head photoshopped out of the team photo (to be replaced by that of Rory Best)! The red card was issued by referee Wayne Barnes who it was claimed Hartley verbally abused.

He was already warned about his use of language. Whether or not he directed the words to the ref, he knew that further inappropriate language would be dealt with. Correct decision by Wayne Barnes. He needs to own it.

If you watch the clip, you will see that just before the red card, Wayne Barnes actually warns him about using insulting language and even makes the point "If I think it's towards me I will deal with it" so basically as a player if a minute later you use the words he used, then you are asking for a red card

You are the captain. You have been warned for language. It's a final. You don't say a word until the cup is in your hands. That is how a pro thinks. He went neanderthal and couldn't help throwing out profanities. He lost. The team lost. Well done, captain. The team salutes you...

Hartley had been warned by Barnes about his language. Anyone with an ounce of sense would realise that after that warning they are treading on eggshells and they would need to be careful. Hartley was a professional rugby player, and regardless of angry or frustrated he was, he had to behave like a professional. He didn't, he acted like a moron and said "fucking cheat" AFTER Barnes had warned him to control his behaviour.

What an absolute turnip. He was specifically warned "if I think it is to me..." by Barnes immediately before. Barnes did think it was to him - justifiably so whether Dylan meant it to be or not. There's not a court in the world that would side with the muppet who got carded.

England seems to make it a habbit to make the biggest asshole on the team be the Captain. At least Lawes seems like a decent bloke. But man Haretly and Farrel... He was sneaky dirty too often. I don't object to players striking out at an opponent face to face in the heat of the moment. It's a physical game after all, and it's easy to lose control. But Hartley, lke a few others, liked to get digs in to players who couldn't see it coming. That's not brave, not clever, and is dangerous.

He couldn’t believe what was happening despite the ref warning him about the way he was talking to him. Then they go and do the thing the ref told them at least 3 times not to do, ultimately leading him to be sent off. And he’s still whining about it years later, using the John McEnroe defence. It’s amazing how thick your average rugby player appears to be.

I certainly wouldn't like to read those kind of comments about myself just cause I play 'on the edge' and everyone that plays knows that shit happens, not always intentionally; at least he's got the balls to front the questions.
