I usually run my heat on low whitch keeps my wax just under a boiling point. Thanks for watching!

Since I just started trapping last year, what is the point of dying traps? Is it something you have to do to be successful?

This is just my thoughts but dying traps is not to important in my opinion. Some say it helps with scent control. But it also makes them a darker color. Which would make sense if you wasn't going to cover them up. I feel it may help with getting any old smells off. However I clean them first. So I guess it really boils down to personal preference. I have took new traps and just got the oil off and waxed them and caught coyotes just the same. I think waxing is much more important. Waxing traps will seal them up from the weather, make them faster and also lock out any scents. The way I see it, anything I can do to possibly increase my chances is a good thing 😆 and that's also the way my elders always done it Thank brother
