I would appriciate sharpness & clarity in FP (update). So I could do almost complete developing in FP (from RAW). I noticed a huge difference using FP7 depending on format (jpeg, tiff, raw), fundamental changes/ best results can only be achieved from RAW-format. I compared the RAW-processing to C1, Silkypix, Affinity... and FP7 does the better job for me ( the 3D-ish detail and mainly the contrast FP7 brings, really superb! So finally, it's not all about sharpness/ clarity..., but would be additionally nice😊)

Thank you for your Feedback, happy to hear that you are happy with your results. About Sharpness/Clarity: You have a point, but for this we have other software and mostly all Photographers use multiple software for their workflow. Also: As you said, a nice image is not tied to clarity, so its a feature for some type of photography but not regarding for FP! :) Have a great day and best regards

Thank you for your reply. Which Workflow would you suggest for correcting sharpness/ clarity? If I start with FP7 the grain get's often too messy applying sharpness/ clarity in a second step; starting with a raw developer and passing over as tiff-file to FP7 results in loosing the unique filmcolor/ grain-transition in the bokeh... That's why I was asking for the implemention of clarity/ sharpness... When using DxO's Photolab Software Filmpack is treated as a plugin, and the data is converted to tiff in the internal hand over to the plugin, correct?

@@matthasenbrink4888 Its all about testing which works for you but in general: You can use Photolab from the get go or go with PureRAW, it really depends on the images you are creating. Did you already do some testing? Best regards

Yes I did, even with printing. As I said, it would be best, if FP7 had sharpness/ clarity sliders. If I really need it, I turn down the amount of grain in FP7 and sharpen in a second step, but you loose some depth/ bokeh/ 3D by doing so 😢.

Hard to believe you skipped only the only really new feature, luminosity masks. Where is that video, may I ask?

He covered it in the PhotoLab review. Because it’s really an editing tool feature, but DXO shoehorned the tool into FilmPack as a $70 upgrade tax. So, to get a feature that’s been standard for YEARS in Lightroom, ON1 and Capture One, you have to upgrade FilmPack. 🤬😤😳 Really a silly thing to do DXO. (And yes Robin is great for these videos, as is Dan for the NIK videos).

I upgraded from Filmpack 6 to Filmpack 7 and it's not even integrated within PhotoLab 6! You guys promote it as compatible with PhotoLab but don't mention its ONLY integrated within PhotoLab 7 otherwise you have to use the standalone version. I prefer to use Filmpack from within PhotoLab!! So very shady of DxO to tie Filmpack 7 to PhotoLab 7 only and not mention that. Filmpack 7 should be updated to be integrated into PhotoLab 6!!

Thank you for your comment! You are right, FP7 is only compatible with PL7 but this is due to a technical standpoint. But maybe if you wait some weeks you will be able to get a good deal for FL7 if you dont wont to upgrade :)
