Maybe the timing is good then...

Ngl, the wing transformation of rodimus for this figure caught me off guard, in a good way. This figure has an interesting transformation. Also good review Dr lockdown.

A reissue would make my day. I almost preordered this boy the first time around, and almost bought him several other times, but could just never figure out where i'd display him in my collection.

It's barely more expensive than the commander.

This is THE Rodimus Prime toy! As much as I like the Kingdom commander’s trailer, I always preferred the idea Rodimus combining with his trailer instead of just being a heftier version of his hot-rod mode. Plus, he won’t look too big along side the other two main Autobot commanders, with Ultra Magnus being the tallest, Rodimus being the shortest and Optimus in the middle.

Dr lockdown I will finally speak. I had to wait 3 months since I watched this video to say something. At 11pm on a Wednesday day May night I was 'locked' in to getting Carry! I never realised for 5 years that this non G1 cartoon accurate figure ACTUALLY incorporated the whole winna baego into it's bot transformation! This is the type of engineering I salivate for. Well not really. But I can say I finally have a DX9 Carry on the way !!!🎉🍾 Thank you Sir !!

Arcee is so funny due to how she doesn't even look right for the cartoon

well since I like G1 Rodimus more than G1 Optimus this makes me happy and only in G1 other continuities are a whole other can of worms

I need one of these. I've been on the hunt for one for a long time. Fingers crossed TFCON has some that are decent prices.

I think dx9 did a limited release recently, so there may be some luck there

I love its design so much, love how it transforms without a trailer like he did in the movie. I'd love to get it but he would't scale with my generations bots >-

I vote seize the day if you can realistically pay $90 (MSRP, but won't be surprised so see him with 2x+ asking price on Fleece-Bay. He does have a great design and nice detailing and paint apps, and his face is intentionally "aged-Up* more than on any Rodimus I've seen, without giving him that weird Schwarzenegger/Stallone "Is his face falling off?" flinch reaction, which considering the fast arc of his character's progression, was handled very well! Yet for an Autobot "Commander" he's shorter than Galvatron, less heft (durability), plastic tires zero reason these wheels tires shouldn't be rubber and have spring suspension, light-piped eyes, ONE MATRIX THAT FITS, his zillion-ways wasted trailer makes Roller look Like a Leader of dreams... If not for a very special surprise gift from family, i would have let this guy sit and continued life occasionally glaring at the G1 Original and tell myself "he's... good enou... Dang I HATE that piece of crap!!! Basically: 1. great design and engineering, 2. colors are as on as they get, 3. solid poseability, 4. what happened to his trapazoid-ish upper chest plate? tiny now!, 5. Trailer's useless and wont stay closed (i hear that a lot). if he were $50 for what you get, jump on it. $90? Hasbro, now you're just being jerks. Try standing him next to Jetfire and not laugh. Tf collecting means scale is OUT the WINDOW, never worried about it. but a $90 Voyager? Only if you can truly afford it.

I really appreciate the fact you had used the chapter feature for the sponsorship. While I know sponsorships like that are pretty much a requirement for any sort of KZreadr, it is nice to see how long the ad is and I can skip it easily (I'm in the US and haven't bought a transformers figure in probably a decade lol). I mainly watch reviews for the transformations and to hear people talk about stuff they enjoy or dislike.

because this figure came out a while now i was hoping some KO company would pull a MP10 and release a downsize version. Carry would have filled that hole in any CHUG collection for the definitive Rodimus. Now that Hasbro is releasing the commander class RP, it looks like the hole will finally be filled

I’m glad you reviewed this as I was debating whether or not to buy it. My only issue with the figure, from watching your video, is the gun and the way he holds it. But that’s an easy fix so I don’t even consider it much of an issue. On a side note, how does he look beside Striker/Delta Manus? As always, great review! Keep up the good work.

A bit tall for scale, and very different stylings, but I don't tend to compare.

DX9 is one of those companies where I'm not big on them aesthetically. However they always seem to put a lot of love into there projects, or at least have fun with them. Its generally not my thing, but this a very beautiful figure in terms of fun factor. And makes me wish the stuff I dig had this much love into it.

@@DrLockdown Yeah, very understandable, i've grown bit tired myself. the stunticons at least have a fun naming scheme, and I give them respect for releasing the most expensive bit earlier on

It's nice to see this version of Rodimus get some love. In my opinion it's THE version to own; just didn't care for the battle station trailers and I just miss proper leader and commander class sized figures

I utterly adore the Kingdom Rodimus, but I do kinda want to get this guy just to see what all the hype is about.

The Toyhax decal set will solve most of your complaints about lack of color & details, especially the vehicle rear and chest, plus it has a small vehicle spoiler piece included. Yes, Firedrive is bad. No, you don't need it. Those hands will hold 5mm pegs. Give it the POTP rifle and a Siege Firedrive if you really want a Targetmaster.

Eh. It's still a fantastic figure. For me though, a figure shouldn't need reprolabels out of the box.

The most recent MP-9 release is great, issues were fixed. MP Hot Rodimus is cool, get the one with the Targetmaster. Fans Toys Hoodlum is not good.

You'd think Hasbro would take more inspiration from 3rd parties. Might have actually given us toys with better engineering rather than have those be the standouts. On the flip side, yeah, amazing as this black magic engineering is, I guess this sorcery wasn't going to work at the Voyager scale, so hope the battlestation and complex (but not complicated, which is personally my problem with Studio Series Hot Rod. Feels more complicated than satisfyingly complex) engineering of the figure justify the Kingdom one. Still gonna get it, though this being reissued is good news to hear, doc! Thanks and fingers crossed for everything!

I'll buy this if I get the chance.

In MP scale there's only 2 rodimus I can remember, DX9 carry and MP09

Studio Cell is the best shellformer around, but this one's right up there with it.

the claiming kingdom rodimus is a retool is even worse since i have seem people claiming its a retool of er prime except from the chest, arms, legs, trailer, weapons, and backpack (the matrix is the only er prime carryover)

Most of the mainline Rods have ranged from okay, to mediocre, but Animated Roddy is pretty slick. (A shame he was a Toysrus exclusive, and in the show a cameo rather than a fleshed out character.)

The proportions seem wayyy better than the POTP Rodimus. Hot Rod sticks out too far in the front of the Winnebago, IMO. Ditto for the Kingdom Rodimus.

I don't mind the proportions on those two. In fact I prefer it sticking out a bit more. Yeah it isn't accurate, but it is personal preference

Ok three things 1. I actually don’t like the look of SS86 Hot Rod it just doesn’t look good to me, 2. I can agree that Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime are basically the same thing and you can set all of them up as one list I mean Classics Hot Rod was called Rodimus, and finally 3. was that a Jazz version of Daredevil from Persona 5 Strikers because I have been listening to it for awhile now because I have been playing the *beep* out of so I hope I’m not going crazy from working at a grocery store during this Apocalypse.

Nah just insaneintherain jazz covers. I don't use his persona covers because they contain vocals, and it would overpower the video. Gotta play strikers actually. Bought it, but have been too busy to give it a shot

What do you think of this in comparison to the studio series now that it's out? Personally, I really like the studio series but theylir size difference has a lot to do with that and the fact that it is a clean looking Rodimus that has a playset attached to it in alt mode... totally outclasses the Hasbro leader class which is garbage compared to Carry and studio series...

Well of course there's Robotoyz (the sponsor of this review). I used them even before they approached me. There's also TFToys, which I've used occasionally. Some of my mates use them religiously. If you want to back collect, join some of the aussie facebook groups and put out a WTB (want to buy) request.

I don't, but I'm not 'people'. Most dislike it because of its size, not realising the increased price allows them to do a lot more. I only dislike it because I personally find it boring, but that's me; not the figure's fault.

Wow..... Besides the vehicle mode, DAMN he looks AWSOME in robot mode. And if anything his target master is more interesting them most figures like him avaible now it dayes, at least in my opinion. Plus the transformation.... Just DAMN. And if anything if you have to stop doing anything, maybe try to... Oh I don t known STOP SH#TING ON DOUBLE DEALER SO MUCH ALLREADY. Because to say this got annyoingly old, is an understatement.

TBH it's really neither; it's a space sports car that connects to a space trailer. It's just commonly referred to as a 'Winnebago' by the fandom. There are no 'facts' here; just weird G1 designs that people have come up with random names for.

While the 86 Transformers movie is a total masterpiece, possibly my favorite movie, I’ve always had this (self-contradicting) thought that once they left for space (Movie, Seasons 3-4), so much magic was gone. In space, alt modes can look like pure trash; ridiculous excuses for designs and overdone weird mechanical detailing, while DROPPING the “In Disguise” aspect entirely. “Blur and Kup look like pure crud!”, “Yeah but they’re from SPACE so it’s all ok!” Feh. That’s also when the toyline got cheaper and cheaper, finding ways to even further limit articulation beyond a diaclone! Rubber tires and die-cast metal vanished along with any sense of realism. It must have been a triple score for Hasbro (my guess), as they didn’t have to pay to license any REAL vehicles or objects anymore and free to design a “whatever, it’s got wing-type things so it flies” out of cheaper materials, and easier engineering cuz alt modes could be anything. How is it determined (pre-Movie) who should pay who for licensing? I can see Chevrolet asking Hasbro for money to use the Corvette Stingray design in the 80’s, but I can also see Hasbro in the more recent Michael Bay Dark Age asking Chevrolet for money to have the honor of putting their new Camero on blast in a multi-billion $ movie/toy franchise… Who pays who and how is it determined? Thank you!

@@sideswipe1261 well that’s you’re opinion….I say I kinda like the idea…earth is not the only planet in the series…planet of junk was an interesting location, the alien-like alt modes were cool looking and galaxy was opened for new possibilities and ideas…and Hot rod’s Journey from being a hot shot to a leader felt real….and sure season 3 gives us carnage in c-minor but also gives us my favourite transformers g1 cartoon episode The burden hardest to bear…also let’s not forget that blurr, kups and hot rod’s alt modes are suppose to be futuristic earth vehicles ( well what they thought car would like in the year).

Why aren't you a fan of SS86 Hot Rod?

It's definitely a flawed game, and it takes a long time to get going (as in fifteen hours), but it is ultimately a fun experience. Meanwhile Xenoblade one is amazing right off the bat, and Xenoblade two is better if you play one first anyway
