DX Commander Down! | 70 MPH Wind damaged | I Need a Replacement Mast | Disconnecting my DX Commander

While I was away from home, I saw the weather radar online and it was a big storm that was going to transition through Northern Florida. After the storm passed, I viewed my antenna online and saw that it went down during the strong winds. I couldn't believe that it was down because it has survived 2 major hurricanes during the time I've owned it. Now, I will need to get a replacement DX Commander Classic Mast so I can put the fan dipole back up.

I was very impressed with the hard work you did mixing all of that concrete by hand to make the base for your tower. High winds always have me concerned about my antennas. I like the hazer you use to raise and lower the antenna. I've always used crank up towers to keep the antennas low during the storms. Thanks for the videos.

Sorry about your DX Commander! I got hit in Live Oak/Suwannee Co. worse than by Idalia (Not sure if tornado or straight winds). Had to redo guys on my 45' tower. Hope you're backup ASAP!

Get your self a signature series DX Commander mast 12.4 or a 9 set it holds up to weather much better than the original. The pole is thicker and heavier and more robust. I run a 12.4 fantastic antenna

Hey Darren - took out my 550" end fed long wire.... not too bad... was able to get it up pretty quickly. Out here on the westside off of Shindler. Sorry for your mishap.

Hello Darren a suggestion. I have for many years mounted my 30 and 33 feet fiberglass antenna poles on military fiberglass mast poles, when I join the bottom part of the antenna fiberglass poles i use a 3 way assembly to avoid their twisting and increase stability. I have the mast pole, a short piece of 1.5 or 2 inches short PVC pipe, and the bottom of the antenna all clamped together. I also use 3 clamps. This way the antenna pole and the mast pole stay straight, no twisting.

Well, I've sold both of my Zero Fives. Vertical antennas are not the best with RFIs coming from powerline poles in my neighborhood.

A good idea to send the video to the manufacturer. Even the Iguana inspected it. A good witness. Still here working on my ANAN G2 100W no face, and working fine so far.

I heard Tallahassee got a couple of tornadoes. I strongly suggest Spiderbeam mast, it’s waaaay beefier and thicker than the thin ones from DXCommander. Stay safe

Which is that green wire? I’m looking for better options than DX10 as I have bad luck with it and amplifiers.
