I just finished her book and she preformed this while seriously injured. She is a true competitor and ultimate talent. Everyone needs to read her memoir.

yes that was TOTALLY True...he did it last minute...his mother was in the audience that night and he had not seen her for a while..he is an only male boy in that family and in seeing her while he was dancing with Kelly he broke into tears.... Derek is truly an amazing dancer, choreographer and partner to whom ever he is working with. DID you see him with the BLIND young Ballet dancer BRILYNN..he was SPEACHLESS and in emotional verge of tears ALSO look up his DANCING with ALISON STOCKER...amazing as Alison's style of dance has OPENED up DEREK too and he Choreographed with her and won awards...DEREK is such an OPEN SOUL that when he dances with partners there is an ENERGY of this exchange that is DIVINELY touching the SOULS of each..this is when EMOTIONS spill over from the body vessel and emotional character of the person.... Like with MAKS and MERYL they created something unique born of both of their energies = PURE ART...Lines, body shapes and STORY...in movement...DRAMA ..theater and the best of each other .... TONY drovonola did that with the woman he won DWTS with too...her BALLET and FEET and her LINES he showed off and he created new routines that SHOWCASES this beauty and form....this is a RARITY that occurs...at times when the INSTRUMENT and what we see becomes the ART....DIVINE MOMENTS

Liz EMOTING is part of what makes you FEEL the dancer dance performance as well as ACTING. THEY are not pretending but they are EMOTING...this is REAL...a good actor is often DRAINED after heavy emotional drama or a scene and the same with a DANCER when a quality of EMOTIVE aspect to the dance or story in the dance is being played out... BUT that does not mean they are IN LOVE with someone or that it means they are broken...they are drawing from a wellspring of their own inner EMOTIVE lives and portray a CHARACTER or the DRAMA to make it be AUTHENTIC....you feel it and often tears come forth when you see this kind of dance or drama in theater or film or opera....or stage play....

She's amazing!

Amy is amazing! This dance was a freestyle and it was choreographed to tell a story. It was creative and unique, something that we haven't seen before. Meryl and Maks rehash the same dance week after week, Meryl gets angry, Maks lifts her up and spins her around, Meryl walks off holding her head and then they almost kiss! We've seen it so many times, it's like leftovers and nobody wants leftovers!

Exactly! Derek has been on this show for a very long time, yet he still knows how to make every single one of his freestyles unique and amazing. For all of those who are complaining about a rope...try it yourself and then you will see how "easy" it is. Derek SLAYED everyone once again. Meryl is a great dancer and she is going to win (ups, Maks is going to win because it's all about him this season), but for me, she wasn't challenged enough. Maks is a very weak choreographer, he tried to copy Derek/Kellie's freestyle, but failed miserably. Derek showed him once again how it's done.

It was magic. Derek i a genius, HOPE THEY WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was beautiful but I agree with Len, the rope was unnecessary. The beauty was in the interpretation and emoting when she was on the floor, not in the air. However, you gotta be impressed with her athleticism.

The rope was perfect for the story they were trying to say with their dance. I was actually screaming (in a good way), when Amy was in the air. Breathtaking and so unique.

The rope may have been unnecessary like many things that are done in the freestyle but that is one of the points of the freestyle to do things you can't do in any other dance. I think Derek explained why he put it in. It was to say the sky is the limit. Amy had been defying the odds and pushing the limits. It was beautiful to watch. I think it added a special touch and dramatic touch to the performance. And Amy seemed to really love doing it so for me that is all that really matters.

You better win any and derek

Loved Meryl and Maks freestyle Loved Amy's and Derek's but LOVED MERYL MAKS MORE and ...did not care at all of the style of the dance James n Peta did they are a stunning couple and that was like well hmm interesting.. Candace and Mark..lordy...his poor shoulder and i still feel she was not consistent in her dance and did not care for their freestyle either..

Roshandra S haha, yeah james and peta's was different, but i was entertained. like i said, i just preferred this contemporary number, but meryl was great too. i thought everybody did well, but overall, to be honest, i thought it was the most underwhelming finale we've had in a long time. but i def think meryl will win. this was maks' season to win or lose, so it was really in his hands whatever happens, ya know? can't wait for tonight :)

i did not like their FREE style either rather SURPRISED and wondered why they GOT the encore on that...wonder even if the VOTES where there for that too? but Peta is GORGEOUS even without her clothes on she is/was more dressed then previous season..Edyta Śliwińska wore STRINGS...no joke and TOM BERGERON used to comment on that... so as far as PETA goes...she does wear BRA and PANTIES..that is clear..not skimpy but.........part of how dancers are and beautiful bodies...guys taking off shirts too and LEN gets perturbed on that...sooo?

i agree she can dance and too many lifts... i keep hearing the judges want less gimmicks and Len was not into the Rope..but what a girl she is and she can move and a lot of SOUL FEELING in this as the music and Amy soared..

I loved both dances, but why is it when Amy does a lot of lifts it's not dancing just being carried but when Meryl does all these lifts it's just perfect??

Amy's did touch, she wasn't off the floor the entire time. I completely understand why Bruno gave her a 9, but what I am saying other than the rope (which is actually VERY hard to do) is that people are constantly saying that Amy never dances but what Meryl did tonight and some other nights she was also off the ground a majority of the time much like Amy was.

That's also what was happening with Meryl she was being lifted/carried also, this was a freestyle dance which means they are free to do what they want. Dancing is more than running on your feet, it's telling a story with your body and feeling the lyrics. There are many ways to dance an since this was freestyle they where dancing. Me being a gymnast and a dancer I know the many ways of dancing. Dancing is using your whole body not just your feet. Whoos, yes thank you, my bad, I knew it was Len I just typed Bruno. Lol

Well, I don't agree, the only amount more of being off the ground for Amy was the rope. Like I said though, dancing is more than running around on your feet. For once I agree with Carrie Ann in this. Also, at the beginning do you notice that Amy is tipping and falling (purposely) just think it's that easy for her to just fall on her face in those feet.

Mak did a traditional safe freestyle dance, nothing exceptional. The only thing that stood out was their chemistry. Since Meryl is a pro ice dancer anyway, anyone that had her for their partner would likely have all those hi points n most likely win. In the switch dance Val n Meryl did a better ATango than Mak cheo w/Meryl. Meryl is the biggest ringer DWTS ever had. Derek used that rope as something symbolic. If u know the lyrics of that freestyle song "Dare You" u would have understood.

It's very possible, this was a powerful and emotional dance. It looks like to me they did when he put her hand behind his head then the camera goes off them. If they didn't, they should have. ;) lol

Roshandra S Sure, she has a boyfriend, but with a dance that powerful it wouldnt be hard to get too in the moment. Plus, she never posts anything about him on instagram and is always posting pics with Derek. All I know is, I know true love when I see it, and wow what they have is powerful.

Rebecca Pant OMG a REALITY check is NECESSARY omg lol...AMY will POST instagram images with DEREK CAUSE she is on or was DWTS lol...it is PR dear...and they have a great friendship and working together.... Amy has a personal PRIVATE LIFE why would she be posting images of her BOYFRIEND...it does not serve the CELEB work this is all GENERATING and for her budding career changes in??? maybe acting? SPOKESPERSON in advertising her IMAGE and Parlympic sports..OMG...real life is happening and of course her BF is a part of her life and there and she mentioned it once in the DWTS video...on how hectic her life has been with the Paralympics and then DWTS right off the airplane.... SAME thing on MERYL and CHARLIE...folks PROJECT onto them they are a COUPLE....nope...and they are OK with that...same thing on DWTS every season they ie the PUBLIC watching the reality show make the partners BE IN LOVE....they are in partnership and are ACTING and expressing their creative sides...it is REAL but it is NOT REAL too and after the show as DEREK ALWAYS JOKES he gets divorced........everyone is like that and some date a little after to WIND down but it is how this all GOES...
