Lyrics
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I'm saying?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again
Asking where I've been
Can't you see these tears are real
I'm crying
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds...
Oh, let our love survive
I'll dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die
Honey, you know
I've never lied to you
No-o, Never lied to you
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I'm saying?
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby...

My favorite singers of Elvis songs (in order they come to mind, not preference) are: Dwight Yoakam, Ronnie McDowell, Ricky Van Shelton, & Raul Malo (the Lead Singer of The Mavericks). This is the best remake of this song, you'll ever hear. Dwight nai!ed it! You'd never think it was a remake either. Wright's always been known to anyone's songs & ace them just as though they were his own. This is proof of that. :) Great taste in music, btw. :)
Dwight is one of those singers that can take a hit from the past, and do it up in a way that makes it his own and sounds just as great as the original.

I didn’t think like that, when they pulled that gate he was sounding too much like Buck Owens! But he found his own way and he scored high!

BUCK Owens was Dwight's best friend!
I'm not really a country fan. But I TOTALLY LOVE THIS SONG. MAN, I NEVER THOUGHT IN A MILLION YEARS THAT SOMEONE COULD DO A MAKEOVER OF AN ELVIS SONG. AND MAKE IT SOUND THIS GREAT. ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER. THANKS FOR THE POST. ENJOY EVERYONE.

You should hear ZZ top's version of "Viva Las Vegas," and Ricky Van Shelton's version of "The Ring Around Your Neck," both of which were originally Elvis songs.

We watched Dwight and his band from the front row of the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu. We were mesmerized by his voice! Outside with the ocean’s breaking waves, coconut trees bending in the trade winds 100 feet from us. He was GREAT!!

Went and saw him in TN last wk. Dude still has it. Great great show
My all-time favorite rendition of this song! Dwight is the man! Great actor too, love him in westerns!
I"ve heard a lot of people say this guy is arrogant, but it's not true in my experience. I went to an outdoor concert of his once and it poured down rain that day so a lot of people didn't show. He invited us all to move up closer to the stage where there was a roof. He said he couldn't see us standing in the rain just for him if it wasn't necessary. That was pretty decent and humble of him and I was thrilled to wind up in the third row.

Nobody does it like Dwight Yoakam. I became a huge, huge fan when A Thousand Miles from No Where came out. Helped heal my broken heart after losing my son and a sister who went nuts over Dwight. That was when I found out what a talent he was and still is - Dwight Yoakam you rock!
Great version of this song! Dwight nailed it! And the gorgeous redhead...stunning!
This is my most favorite song by Dwight.
This is one of my favorite recordings of all time. It's flawless.
I would say Dwight nailed this one! Good fresh sound.
