Dweezil is the nicest person in the multiverse. Now waiting for the "What makes this" Zappa. There could be more than one. One for the rock stuf, one for the orchestral stuf,... Thanks rick.
I've gone to a lot of concerts, but Dweezil is the act I've seen most. I've even taken a master class from him. He always makes me smile.
Dweezil is an intelligent, thoughtful man, his dad would be proud

I only 'know him' by his playing (as it ought to be for those he hasn't chosen to to have personal interaction with). So that being said, I love Dweezil's love, respect, n dedication to his pop! If you haven't yet seen him n his band, it's a must see!!
I just happen to LOVE these two guys :-) I saw Frank live first time in 1973 in Bologna, Italy. He shocked pretty much everyone in the stadium :-D . I simply ADORED the show, the music, the attitude, everything. So I attended his concert next year, the band was different, the CONCERT was different... And I super-enjoyed it, maybe even more than the previous year. I could see him live again only in 1983 or 1984, I don't remember. Another beautiful concert... But the last one I could attend. :-( Then I enjoyed so much all the videos of Dweezil's "legacy" tours "Zappa plays Zappa". Beautiful initiative. Thank you, Dweezil, for this. I have MOST of Frank's albums, and an interesting story about how I came to know about him... I was 15-16 years old at the time. Living with my parents... And my father was a music addict, mainly Opera and Classical with some old style jazz as a side dish. One day, I was in my room and he poked his head through the door, and said: "There's an American guitarist you should listen to, I'm pretty sure you'll like him. His name is Frank Zappa". And yeah, he was damn right! :-) But don't ask me how in the heck did HE know about Frank! :-D
I saw zappa plays zappa in like 2010 and they were the best live band i had ever heard. It blew my non zappa friends minds!
Dweez is such a great person. Met him in Utrecht after an amazing concert. We need Zappa so bring it on!

Met him after a Houston concert. Dweezil is a fabulous musician, and a genuine, intelligent person. One ☝️ f my favorites; his parents would be proud!!
Very talented, hard working, humble, awesome musician
The guit solo in the studio version of "Inca Roads" - BEAUTIFUL. "Watermelon In Easter Hay" - Still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it played.
I saw Dweezil and ZPZ do Apostrophe('). One of the best gigs of my life
I just finished the 2020 Zappa documentary... Cried like a baby for 20 min and this video was in my feed. Thx Rick
Awesome interview - Dweezil is so kind and down-to-earth yet very accomplished. Interesting comments about modernizing the music - Frank was already decades ahead when the music was first created in most cases
Thanks for doing this! Dweezil is amazing, and he keeps getting better!
Rick you are amazing at these interviews, this was an absolute treat, thank you soooo much!
Love Zappa music... I have seen Dweezil like 3 or 4 times already ! (never saw Frank live unfortunately...) and that was a blast every time. Thanks for the sounding off ! :)
Dweezil is also an excellent teacher. I loved his masterclass.
Thank you gentlemen....two great musicians
What an excellent interview. I hope you can interview him again when you have more time! Thanks for sharing this.

What an Awesome down to earth guy. So glad I caught this. Thanks Rick!
Great video! Man, I'd love an official Dweezil interview in the future! Still need to see him live.
Hi Rick. Thank you for this! What a pleasure.
Great interview... bless Dweezil ❤
Such a cool, laid back guy, Joe's Garage is indeed a great Zappa album, Lucille Has Messed My Mind up always raises a smile!
I love dweezil...So humble.
Best one yet. Thanks Rick
These dudes both have killer chops. And I'm not talking about guitar skill.
Saturday chores got in the way of catching this live, glad for "re-runs"!
Two of my favorite people. I've had the honor of meeting Dweezil thrice and my daughter and I took Dweezil's master class. It was so cool.
Great show as usual Rick. I have Dweezil's first Zappa plays Zappa cd and remember the sitcom that he and his sister were in with Max Gail and Cindy Williams. I enjoyed the show too bad it was dumped. Keep em comin boss man.
Awesome-love Dweezil and enjoy your very insightful channel Rick
so great thanks so much Rick.
Nice one guys, Hi from Perth Australia. Saw the show at the Astor, great stuff! Long may you tour.
Great Interview, Rick! I'm so glad that the last 32 minutes didn't end up in that great big bit-bucket in the sky! Dweezil convinced me to look into Cubase. I'm considering purchasing their 'Artist' DAW
Glad to hear Dweezil keeping his dad's music alive, come back to Toronto soon!
Yes! The full video is back! I hope those who already watched the short version will notice this and re-watch it. Great video Rick and Dweezil. Thanks!
Great post!! Love Dweezil.
Dweezil is bad ass on guit-fiddle!
Thanks you two !!!
He SOUNDS like his dad. I can hear Frank.
Hi Rick, Hi Dweezil, *BIG HI* from Libya (North Africa)
"Watermelons in Easter Hay" is the best song ever!
Saw Dweez in Atl in 2008 with Ray White and it was amazing!
At a Coheed and Cambria tour back in 2010(?), they actually did a live off the floor USB for every concert. Similarly to some setups, they had a dedicated 2-track computer and just cut the snips when the next song began and exported to a master USB. Then they had a USB duplicator with 20+ USB drives to replicate the master and sold them after the concert. It's definitely the coolest thing to do and I wish bands did that.
Rick, took your advice to go check out some videos with lesser plays and really enjoyed your time with Dweezil. I was fortunate enough to have seen Frank live in the early '70s when I was studying at Cornell. Great live stream!!
Hey Rick! I was at the Master Class that came in as this interview was wrapping up. I was surprised to see you there. How awesome!
Dweezil is awesome person and musician!
I saw Dweezil play on stage with his dad at Wembley Arena in '88.

@@cameronpatrickscott No, I was at both nights and recorded them on my Sony Pro Walkman, and The Dweez only played on the one night, on "Chunga's Revenge". I think it was the 2nd night.
I find the family fascinating. One thing that people might find interesting was Frank really valued the family unit. In some ways he was very traditional yet he didn't like fascism and government interference in our lives. I have to wonder what he would think of the internet, social media, news networks today and politics. I also find Dweezil very interesting because he's a complex musician and yet such a regular human, who also values family very much. Of course Frank was Italian and raised in that 50's big family era. Cool stuff.
I just saw Dweezil at the New Daisy Theatre in Memphis on Thursday. Great show.
Great show in Beverly Ma last night, seen him at Chianti's , guitar player gave my bud the set list, class act!
Met Dweezil at the Sydney show. Great guy and a great show.
Greetings from Ireland gentlemen. I can only imagine what crazy lyrics Frank would have come up with for Gillette - the mind boggled ☺☺
Probably one of the nicest & talented musicians around today. Plus, he loves Van Halen,........ Dweezil rules !
Cool to see this video pop up on my KZread home page today!
Dweezil is such a boss. Funny, nice dude!
Great show Rick What a nice guy Dweezil is down to earth nobody asked about the Hendrix strat wow Frank did it live in the studio I keep telling my buddy just what he said about the first time you really get the song is the best you’ll ever do it to me it gets mechanical thanks Rick
MACON GA. WAS BRILLIANT !!!!!!, I NEEDED THAT
Love your video's Rick Beato!
Dweezil is the coolest and nicest and talented!
Thanks for setting this up Rick, really enjoyed that.
He sums it up perfectly at 13:15 Saw him in Heerlen 2019 playing Hot Rats and I had a fantastic evening. Great players all along. And one of the best sounding concerts I have seen recently as well.
Really fun interview! 😃
it's great to be different. your dad was awesome as you and the band rock ass baby
It's creepy having Rick and Dweezil stare into my soul and know I like them. And love Frank.
Dweezil and I had the same voiceover agent when I lived in Studio City, CA. - nice guy BTW - :)
Dang! Sorry I missed both opportunities, but glad the pre-show webcast is online. BTW, love Choice Cuts!
"Louie, Louie" played on the Royal Albert Hall pipe organ. Gotta love it.
Ty segall with Dweezil Zappa it's the best info of this video I Think!!
15:15 It's gotta happen Rick! Plus you've been upgraded to 'musicologist'!!! Congratulations! Well deserved!
Dweezil - your interview on WTF was amazing and brutally honest. Super interesting and emotional. Bravo.

this needs to come back .....2 more hrs of dweezil
Alrighty then!! Rick is officially on my Christmas List! That made my month bro! Thank You! I bet the show was killer! Where you out front the performance, or backstage?
hey Rick...please find a way to re-interview Dweezil in the future....and see if it isn't possible to do a what makes this song great for zappa...although...that will require dealing with the ZFT and Dweezil doesn't even want to do that...so i understand...but...i still hope you try anyways...the genius of zappa should not go unmentioned in your teachings

Chris L...um...I'm pretty sure that rick will absolutely NOT do Billy...it's too long...too many parts...and as wonderful a song as it is...it doesn't really fit the criteria of his series....but there are some peices that are shorter that would be in the realm of his series...my guitar wants to kill your mama (original version)..peaches en regalia....i am the slime....dancing fool....Why doe it hurt when i pee....any kind of pain
Love the Dweeeeez!
Phoenix Az! Luv my Zappa
Dweezil thank you for your dad's music but please don't leave yourself behind..... Please put out a modern rock album Also please re release Let's talk about it with Moon again on vocals
Mr Rick & Mr Dweezil , 2 stand up , wonderful Humans 👏
i miss dweezil.. Pff.. Great guitarist, great musician too;
Father and son are the bomb!
The Dweez looks like my uncle Lou... hilarious. "The Son of God." Perfect.
First time I've seen Dweezil speak, seems like a really nice guy!
Dweezil and Rick together! So cool.
Hey Rick, you should consider getting Mick Goodrick on an episode of sounding off. There isn't a single interview of him on youtube and it would be amazing to see him share some of his knowledge/wisdom. Thanks.
Yeah i missed it. Was having dinner in France. Would have loved to have Dweezil in my muffin utility research kitchen! lol
Great conversation! Rick, your breakdown of Frank's "The Ocean is the Ultimate Solution" would be a big hit I think. Cheers.
When DZ was a teen it was obvious that he had big talent as a guitarist. Catching his band live before he got into covering FZ stuff was jaw dropping in terms of his number crunching abilities alone. I managed to catch FZ live six times, the band was too loud for the venue at four of those shows. I've been to Dweezil performances five times. His bands have never been too loud for the room and his set lists were more challenging than his dad's (generally covering more of the mathematically dense compositions from older albums than you'd get in the 80's FZ shows). It's true that FZ was the more accomplished composer and innovator. But there is no doubt that DZ is exceptionally gifted and that he works his ass off.
Loved you from the get go!!!
You guys make me proud to be a member of United Mutations
Looking (& sounding) good Dweezil! Uncle Rick doesn't look too bad either!!
What makes this song great: (hear some) "Dinah Moe Humm"
You can tell he's a nice guy
I play the version that dweezil zappa does on "watermelon in easter hay", really like his and franks playing. Also, that frank introduced me to Gatemouth Brown.
The Dweeezzz
