While analyzing thousands of Doppler radar drag curves, ballisticians isolated a bullet tip design that would reduce the variation in drag from bullet to bullet. Specifically, the meplat must be flat - not pointed - and the diameter of the flat meplat is a specific ratio to the bullet diameter. Hornady engineers have developed and patented Drag Variability Reduction Technology (DVRT) to increase the uniformity of bullet drag from shot to shot, resulting in less dispersion at long range.

    Similar to what top F-class guys do to open tip match bullets when they point them to a specific size. So if you guys can increase the integrity of jackets the market will be yours.

    Is it possible to quantify the variability trade off vs the BC improvement? Why - almost universally if not universally top F class shooters point bullets. Through large data samples they have proved small groups at 1000 and an improved BC i.e. the drag variability while existing is of less significance in the F-class shooting at 1000 use case. I think the DVRT issue may have a very specific application that's not coming across in the podcasts?
