Thank you for this video! Ive spent weeks pondering what video sleeves would best suit my family's needs and time and time again the information i was seeking was lacking. Your video was a huge help, not only did you give the pros and cons of each of them you gave great detail and showed each product and how the worked very well. I will be ordering discsox to tame my dvd collection.

Heather Reavis Glad to hear it helped! :) And if you want to soften the costs of DiscSox organization, you should also pick up a pack of large index cards to use as alphabetical dividers. They're the perfect size right out of the package and cost a lot less than the DiscSox alternative! ;)

You rock, I gotta say this is the best video I've ever seen on getting your DVD's under control. thank you. thank you for showing the different prices and options with sleeves. I definitely want to do this and I've watched many videos on putting disks in sleeves. none of them gave the depth and breath of quality and choices as your video. And I really needed the help because my DVD collection is insane

As a follow up, I purchased 350 of the sleeves after watching this video. 12 hours later my wife and I had 3/4 of our collection sleeved, alphabetized, and placed in its proper genre. We threw out 4, 30 gallon trash bags of needless did cases. Yeah, I know I could've put them on eBay and made some cash, but I wasn't thinking clearly after 12 hours of organization... Needless to say, this is one of the best purchases ever. Thanks again for making this, and introducing us to our new favorite organizational tool.

I have been using the DiscSox Sleeves for about 3 years now. I have found them to be the best option and the have BlueRay specific sleeves as well. As for the cost there is a way around that. First they are available at the Container Store if you have one in your area that avoids shipping costs. Secondly a few times a year they put them on sale. I stock up when that happens. It saved me $6.00 a package, which is huge.

Very good review/comparison. I've been using the Atlantic Movie Sleeves for a few years now, with no major issues. Yes, there is the crease in the disc cover, but how often are you going to put the disc back in the case. I only do it, if I am getting rid of the DVD. Since resale value is pretty nil for most discs, I just donate them--they're worth more as a tax deduction. As for those pesky snap cases, I either scan the art work, or create my own & print it out for the sleeve. I will check out those Megadisc sleeves, as my collection is not getting any smaller. Cheers.

Great video! I've got a collection of about 900 and I was able to narrow the size of my collection a little with some Discsox. Thanks to one of your other videos, I'm thinking I might get more now that I know they can for the slipcover as well! I'm just wondering if anyone has figured out a good way to store those bulky TV box sets that are all cardboard fold-outs and plastic trays. So bulky and obnoxious!

  • @tativerse

Damon Davila Those fold-out boxes are a nightmare! Aside from printing custom artwork and transferring the discs over to one of those newer 6-discs in a standard sized DVD case (if that made sense...), I don't know what else one could do with them. *shrug* The only "solutions" I can think of all require throwing out the original case... :( Sooo I would like to second your comment! If anyone has any grand fixes to this issue *do* let us know in the comments! :D

For anyone interested in the Megadisc sleeves, check out some of the other items by the same seller; I say this because this seller also sells a storage case for $89.99 that comes with 420 sleeves! That's only $0.21/sleeve as opposed to $0.26, PLUS you get a case to store them in! Just thought I'd spread the word for anyone who has quite a big collection and would be buying at least 420 sleeves anyway!

I have an awsome Horror dvd collection, heres what i do to ditch those black cases; I USE quart sized ziplock baggies w/o writing orthe the logos on front, fold down the dvd cover, slip it into baggie .You can buy dvd paper sleeves at any staples store, they will even order boxes of 100.Dollar tree has the best round little white velcro dots for folding the top over after placing sleeve and dvd into baggie.I have about 400 horror dvds and this takes up very little space.Hope this cheap idea helps someone.

Thanks very much for the very informative review, Tatiana. Just subbed to your channel. I'm seriously considering getting the Discsox sleeves for my Blu-rays and DVDs. My Blu-ray collection is ever-growing by the minute, and it is becoming very frustrating to find space on my shelf for them. I've even resorted to stacking my latest additions on top of one another due to lack of space. The Atlantic ones are nice, but poor execution when it comes to creasing the DVD artwork. And the Megadisc ones are nice in their own way, but I don't like that you can't open them to see the back artwork, etc. So like I said, I think I'm gonna go with the Discsox ones. Gonna go to the Container store to pick some up soon, for my Blu-rays and DVDs. I'm still debating about the ones for CDs, though. Thanks again! :)

Nick Williams Thanks for your lovely comment! I actually use the DiscSox CD sleeves as well (but since I haven't really seen any competitors I didn't make a video about them.) The space the CD sleeves save isn't as awe-inspiring as that of the DVD sleeves but it *is* still quite substantial nonetheless. I think the lesser amount of space saveage(?? lol) is simply due to the booklets being inherently denser. For me most of the benefit comes solely from getting rid of the jewel cases (I swear they crack if you just look at them the wrong way! haha) I just posted a cd sleeve/jewel case space comparison pic on my Facebook page if you're interested. :)

I switched all of my DVD’s to sleeves years ago. The sleeves I used were from a company called Jazzloft that has gone out of business, but the sleeves are still available from bagsunlimited.com. They’re great but 2-disc releases require a special 2-disc sleeve. I’ve also found that MOD artwork such as from Warner Archive will adhere irreversibly to the sleeves over time.

john michaels Haha. Good question! Well I throw out the ones that are damaged, I sold a small handful of them on Ebay. (I only cleared about 25 cents per case though so *shrugs*), and I use a few for various (tacky) fixes around the house lol, but mostly they sit in a box in the garage right now. I just can't bring myself to throw them away since they're still good. (Although eventually I might just throw away the cases with the recycling symbol cut-out... >.>) In short, unfortunately I'm still searching for a good way of dealing with them.

Oh I'm in Canada too. No in-Canada sources? Well discSox is the most expensive kind. I lean to megadisc due to all traits except idiotproofness. As long as I'm careful with them, I can live with the minor drawbacks. An eBay seller in Ontario exists under the name at the bottom of Tatiana's screen. tho it's CAD $21+tx +7shipping for a 50pk. Depending on tx, it's CAD$0.58-0.61 each. Free shipping sadly ain't as frequent among Cdn sellers.

+Lisa Riggle Hi, this is an EXCELLENT question. Unfortunately, despite all my comparisons I don't have an answer for you. I pull the discs out only once in a blue moon, so the wear and tear hasn't been heavy enough for me to notice. It functions more as an archive for me. If anyone out there uses their sleeves more heavily it'd be great to hear about the possibility of disc scratches! :)

  • @BBunch9

+Lisa Riggle - I originally got the Atlantic sleeves and they did scratch the DVD's (you can go to Amazon and see some pictures a guy took on his review of the scratching). If they would have put a piece that white mesh material inside that would solve that problem. I found Discsox for much cheaper here www.cyberguys.com/product-details/?productid=31618&rH=1747 and I plan on trying those out but have not yet.
