Thank you! I did not know about the slot at the bottom and once I nudged the tray out, which had been pushed in too hard at an angle, it will open and close. I'm happy!

My dvd does not have that slot unfortunately

Ha! I took off the top and front panels. Poked the button to eject on inside a couple of times and VOILA, it is now working. Took 5 min. Thank you so much!

Great video!! Our belt was actually on and working fine. We removed the two screws in order to see the motor and belt and I believe the magnetism from that top piece is not allowing the door to open. Do you have a video or steps to check next if the belt is working? I've got a Phillips HTS3450/37. TIA!

Are the dvd players inside PC's and laptops similar? I have a non-ejecting drive in my laptop, although it looks like it might have a micro dent in the metal frame surround which could be preventing Auto Eject. Excellent clear video, well done, and Thanks.

Our LG 3-Disc Changer Component is not ejecting the disc, worse it has no activity inside (the disc is not rotating), this tutorial will help me to get confidence in opening our unit and hopefully fix it to save money.

Perfect repair, I would remove the metal watch and and chain as a safety factor ,easily short something.

Thank you so much for your help! I also had to remove the dvd upper bracket to get better access. In my case the belt was off but still in proper condition, so I just reattached it and it works!

yourtv A FREAKn arm & a leg. Labor ALONE more than $30! NOT INCLUDING the belt! RIP OFF😤 Most shops won't even bother. They'll suggest to buy another unit. It would be MUCH cheaper. Than to fix these things now a days. FYI.

Do you have any input or a link to a Tascam rack mount cd player issue is- plug it in and tray ejects on it's own.Get tray back in and comes right back out.So, cd player not dvd player tray open closes on it's own all the time.

An elastic band fix that dvd player thats cool. Most ppl throw dvd player away and buy new one but that fix it thats cool

I hope you read still comments on the old videos. Have the same DVD Player built into a DUAL "multi-thing". 99% sure it has the same problem. Unfortunately no emergency release slot at the bottom. Is there any chance to release the tray from above? All other components are stacked on top of the player. I have access from above, to replace the drive belt, but need to open the tray first. To take the player out would mean take everything apart, disconnecting tons of ribbon cables. Can do, if I have to, but it will be a nightmare. Thanks in advance and yes your are right - there is always a fix. Greetings from Germany! Andreas

Where did you get that new belt? I inspected mine and it seemed to be good but it's still not ejecting. I tried an O ring that I bought from home depot but returned it. It did not do the job. I have rubber bands but they are not tight enough. I did notice you got a similar elastic belt band for yours. Where? 🤔

Congratulations on your successful repair.

I wish that was the problem with this Phillips player I'm working on... As soon as I remove the metal cover from the top, it ejects no problem. Put it back on, no more ejecting. There's no dents, no visible strain on anything, etc. Before I popped the cover, I was sure it was the belt... No clue how to fix this! lol

Oh man this is the same exact problem I have. I took the dvd drive out and it glides in and out smooth but when I reassemble…failure. Then I got to thinking “why do I own a dvd player and why am I trying to fix this” but I feel that it’s personal now

Where/how does the spring that lifts (I think that's it's job?!) the DVD to the lens? Mine popped off. It takes DVD, spins, but says insert disc

obviously that was the issue the rubber band snapped easy to fix realy nice dvd player ive got a sony sr170 dvd player but i dont like scart

My DVD player stop working it ejects to put dvd in there and closes but once the dvd is in there it starts reading the disc but nothing happens and it won’t allow me to stop or eject it until I turn the whole system off . Could it be that it needs a laser cleaning ? Or what do you think

Do these players typically have sata compatible connectors?

I love this fix.... The video player seemed very small untell you take it apart and realize they could have made that thing much smaller... there is nothing inside lol

Thanks, maybe this is also my problem. I have a Basic DVD of Brand Philips model 3160k / 55. And when I try to open the tray to put a DVD film, it does not open but it has a strange sound.

I didn't look hard enought for the emergency eject. I only wanted to troubleshoot a DVD that wouldn't play on my laptop and ended up with the thing apart, before watching your video.

I have an HP DV1000 laptop that the CD drive draw will not open, I have to keep hitting the button to get it to open. I don't want to take the laptop all apart to get it out. What could be causing this problem?

Open my computer, right click on the dvd drive, and click eject. If it opens I suggest to continue doing it this way, if not it needs to be replaced. Good luck!

2:52 i cant even push it open, and doing the emergency thing with the paperclip does not help. (Edit: It somehow fixed itself when i accidentally bumped into it...)
