Duyfken - The Voyage of the Little Dove

Full teaching resource launching in Term 1 2024!
In March 1606, a small Dutch Ship called Duyfken (Little Dove) met the Wik people as it sailed along the west coast of the Cape York Peninsula in Queensland, resulting in the earliest recorded contact between Europeans and First Nations Australians.
This Animation is part of '1606 - Contact at Cape Keerweer' a full unit of work aligned to the Australian National Curriculum. It includes videos, an interactive map, 3D walkthrough of the ship, classroom discussion questions and activity suggestions for students.
Commissioned by the Australian National Maritime Museum and produced by Roar Film as part of the '1606 - The Contact at Cape Keerweer' Education Resource.
