Duy's DIY Adventures 009: Curtain Room Dividers

In this episode, I try to install a budget-friendly room divider that will act as a video conferencing background during WFH. It will also serve as a physical divider to separate my office from my sleeping area.

This seller ships this item very carefully to ensure that your room divider kzread.infoUgkxWv_wTHyTRVm0QkcOw1Rz2-5g_gDoRTkU is not damaged in transit. They even place stickers saying glass, handle with care. I originally bought a 4 panel room divider, but after receiving it I knew I needed larger for the area I was trying to hide. I wanted a 6 panel, but it was not offered in the Espresso color that I wanted, so I went with 5 panels. This is serving my purpose very well on hiding my dog's pee pads. I ended up using the 4 panel one in a corner behind my Christmas tree. The best thing is you do not have to put anything together, you just take it carefully out of the box and place it where you want it. It can be moved around very easily. Plus, these dividers start at the floor, so nothing is seen moving around on the other side like some other dividers I looked into. Now that I have a 4 and 5 panel one, I am sure that I can get them to overlap and work other ways should I need to in the future.

Duy, it doesn't look ghetto at all. The clips make it look "industrialized." The clips also can serve as a weight for the ends. You know what's ghetto, it's my solution to curtain hemming with clear tape. 🤗 Now that's ghetto, but it works until you wash them. Good problem solving on ur part.

I used those exact rods, but black, for outside curtains. We needed them for our lanai and pool privacy. A house was being built next door with complete view of our back yard. We planted clusia bushes and needed the curtains until the clusia grew enough for privacy. The curtains had the holes on the top and bottom to keep them from flying in the wind. They worked great and we were really happy with them. The heavy duty outdoor curtains worked for about 5 months before deteriorating in the harsh South Florida weather, they started letting off a fine dust. I needed to dump them. By that time the bushes grew large enough anyway. The rods rusted but still usable. Just needed to be cleaned. They are really good rods and I would use them again, even for outside. Just not the curtains. Need something to last longer. Eventually, someone will build a house on the other side of us and we'd need to find curtains for that side. The clusia on that side are smaller and taking longer to grow.

I'm about to do the same for my at home business, except the curtain divider is going to hang between my living room and the kitchen to keep cool air in living space. I'm also using command hooks so I don't need to use power tools and have left over mess.

Hi. I see your comment is about 1 year old, did you follow through with this project? And if so, did the command strip work? I'm not opposed to using power tools, but the home I live in had a lot of abnormal build/electrical work done when first built in order to cut costs. I'm not sure I'll be able to find studs without going out and buying the reader, or if wires will be somewhere they shouldn't 😅

Looks like a great idea for my house. My upstairs has an old 'Jack and Jill' layout where there are three bedrooms and a bathroom, all in a loop around the stairway, so every room is accessible. These wall curtains seem like a good idea to form a hallway of sorts, so there is privacy between bedrooms.

Instead of the clips, you can also use safety pins. You won't see it at all. No need to sew if you don't have to. I use pins on curtains that I use for multiple windows when changing curtains, some windows need it longer and some need it shorter so I like it being a temporary fix. Love the idea, it looks great.

SO CUTE!!! Question: Do you have an iron? If you do, take off those binder clips and buy some IRON ON HEM TAPE. It costs about $5. Just fold the bottom of your fabric to the length you want, sandwich the hem tape in between the fold (closer to the top of the fold), then iron. That way you can more easily wash and dry your curtains and the finish will look nicer too. Good job on your divider!

I love this! I need it for my Videography Studio. I am unable to Mount anything to the ceiling though because it’s the removable kind but is there anything you’d recommend to do this from wall to wall?

Sorry for the late response! I did a little research, but couldn't find a similar solution. One idea could be to use these heavy-duty curtain rod brackets. www.amazon.com/dp/B08CMRQ2B2 It's a similar concept to wooden rods normally found in closets, but we'd be using a sturdier metal conduit with less flex. Hope this gives you a few ideas.
