Strongs 4851 is the word “expedient,” the word Jesus used in John 16 when he said to the disciples, (John 16:7) "it is expedient for you that I leave." Another translation says, it's to your advantage if I leave. The disciples were as confused about this as you and I would've been.
You've been basically living, walking, traveling daily, sharing all your meals... with God in the flesh. You've watched him heal every manner of sickness, disease, eyeballs form, skin grow back from leprosy, dead people float up out of the ground raised from the dead, funerals interrupted, storms calmed, walking on water, thousands of people fed with a couple of loaves of bread. You've watched all this. Multitudes came and said he healed them all.
You've watched all this. You listened to him days at a time, entire families including children, would sit and were so engrossed in His words, they wouldn't leave to eat. He looks at you and says, "You're better off if I leave." They were understandably confused, and He knew this. He said, "I know that, but you will understand, you don't understand now." But He did give them an explanation.
He said, "Because if I leave, I'm going to send Holy Spirit, my Spirit, back to you. He won't be limited because, He won't have a physical body like me, so He won't be limited to just being one place at one time. He'll be with you and in you, all of you, all the time, everywhere you go. (John 14:16) He says, “I'm going to send you another helper."
The word for "another" is allos in Greek... heteros, if He had used that word (heteros) for "another" it would've meant, "another, but a different kind." If I had two pieces of fruit up here, one was an orange, one was an apple, and I said, "Here's a piece of fruit, and here's another piece of fruit," I would use heteros, because that would mean, "another, but different in kind, in quality."
But if you want to say, "another of the same kind in quality," you use allos. So if I had an apple here and an apple here, I'd say, here's a piece of fruit and here's another piece of fruit, that's allos. Jesus chose that word. He didn't say, "I'm sending you a different kind of helper." He said, basically, I'm just going to summarize it, "I'm sending myself back in Spirit form. I'm sending my Spirit, Holy Spirit, back to you without a physical body. You become His physical body. He's going to be everywhere all the time. You don't know it now, but you're literally better off with that scenario than if I would just stay here in the flesh."
That's not an easy thing to get your arms around. If Jesus came in here today and said, "Would you rather I came back in the flesh and just be here? Or would you rather I leave my Spirit here?" We'd say, "Jesus, don't leave! Please don't leave!" That is because we don't have the revelation that we need of Holy Spirit, who He is, what He's come to do, what He means to us. Holy Spirit is everything Jesus was in you. If that revelation ever breaks through to you, or anybody else, it is the game changer.
Now, I'm going to define the Greek word in a moment, what order do I want to do this? I'll define it first. "Sumphero," advantage, expedient, it literally means to bring together, to bring two or more things together… things or people together, thereby causing advantage. If you've got a person who can do this, and you've got a person who can do this, it can do so much. But if you bring them together, you have synergy. It creates an advantage when you begin to work together.
The word Jesus used for helper, Paraclete, which I'm going to take the time and define. In John 14, Paraclete is translated many different ways. He's going to be your helper, your counselor. These are all translations, use these words. Helper, comforter, advocate, encourager, intercessor, defense attorney, mediator.
