Dutch Oven Baked Thanksgiving Turkey

Used in this video: Red River Smoky Dip and Red River Ranch Original Seasoning available here: kentrollins.com/shop-1/
=======================
It's Turkey Time! In this video we're demonstrating a Dutch oven baked turkey just in time for Thanksgiving. If you've seen my videos we normally use coals on the outside of the oven, we're doing a different approach today by burying the Dutch oven in the ground. This is a great method if you're wanting to bake for a longer, slower bake.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Dutch Oven Baked Turkey
6 lb. turkey breast, thawed
1 stick butter, softened
1 packet Red River Smoky dip (kentrollins.com/shop-1/) or Liption onion dip or Italian dressing
1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more for coating
1 teaspoon sage, plus more for sprinkling

    I can't thank you enough for uploading the videos that you do. These are the old fashioned cooking techniques and recipes that are lost because so many people take them to the grave out of pride. As someone who doesn't come from a family that has passed down recipes and the like, I sincerely thank you.

    When my kids were little (6&8 30 years ago), we did a family camping trip for Thanksgiving. We cooked Game hens (4) for turkey and we did dressing, green bean casserole, yeast rolls, and Pumpkin and Pecan pie all in my Dutch Ovens. It was one of the best things we ever did as a family.

    Kent, when my kids were little, we would bury anything with a bone right under our campfire and let it go a couple hours. Chickens, ribs, turkey, salmon, etc.... It was a great time and it always turned out great. Thank you for a memory.

    Just doing a little pre-thanksgiving research on cooking turkey. Unfortunately, where we live (Thailand) the only turkey we can get is pre-cooked. Takes all the fun out of cooking but Kent has given me some ideas on the seasoning that I can do as I heat up a pre-cooked turkey. THANKS!! Loved this video!!

    Underground cooking? You do know that's how Hawaiians cook! They build a fire, heat rocks, line the pit, wrap the pig in ti leaves, wrap it in wet burlap bags and throw that sucker in. Then they pile more hot rocks on top and cover with dirt. Oh, baby! Delicious succulent pig! You know what's what with that! Love your channel!

    Another great video from the Red River Ranch, Kent, we do beans in New England like this called "bean hole beans" I've always buried them overnight 10 to 12 hours in a cast iron DO or bean pot. That turkey looks perfect, liked the apple trivet, now those drippings would make gravy! Bless you and Shannon and everyone on the Ranch have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

    Thank you Lord for the Dutch oven. Is there nothing it can't do? Easily the most versatile cooking implement besides maybe the cast iron skillet
